Title: Smoking in Ramadhan from a Quranic perspective
Post by: 8pider on June 14, 2015, 08:56:28 AM
Salaam members

According to the general understanding of Muslims, smoking is prohibited in the Quran during the fast. From the Quran, I only see...eating, drinking and sex. Can the ban on smoking be justified from a Quranic perspective?

Smoking is something like food for the addicted people. Some people don't feel hungry when they smoke as such smoking can be taken as food for them as such breaks their fast. It is not only food but any thing one consumes during fasting is not permissible. Smoking also a kind of food as a person is satisfied. As a matter of fact the smoking makes a person not feel hungry as such it is not permissible. Allah has given general guidelines therefore we have to act as closely as possible

Peace spider.

This is my understanding:

Refraining from eating and drinking, means "nil by mouth" if I may use this medical term.

Smoking ,chewing tobacco ...etc is  some kind of "food " for the body, hence I would personally refrain from doing it when fasting.

GOD bless you.
Peace.

In nutshell any kind of "intake" through the mouth or in vein is not permissible during Fasting.
