Title: How Do you Know that the Quran is the Word of God?
Post by: Reader Questions on January 18, 2014, 09:23:21 AM
Salam Brother Joseph.

My question is, how would you know that the Quran is the word of God? How can we know that the Quran might not have been corrupted? I don't want answers like : 'Because the Quran says that it is the word of God.' or 'Because Allah says in the Quran that he will protect it.'.

Peace.

Wa alaikum assalam

I have long argued that it would be somewhat futile to accept the Quran as God's word simply because ‘others say so’ or because the faithful claim that the scripture was ‘preserved’. After all, the scripture could simply lead back to a false prophet and thus, its preservation would be meaningless. Blind acceptance is what many faithful do with the religions they were born into. Rather, one should accept the truth of a claim by the arguments it presents.

I can only speak about my experiences that convinced me of the Quran’s truth and yet, it would require much in the way of writings to capture my sentiments.

However, with a view to share a mere snippet of the sentiments I felt while critically studying the Quran, I share a couple of short posts with you. It is by no means comprehensive, but I trust it will highlight why 'the arguments' are so important to a person when it comes to accepting the veracity of a claim.

I hope that helps, God willing.
Joseph
