Salamu Alaykum
Certain surahs (chapters) of the Quran begin with just certain letters like the alif lam meem or
alif lam ra
Ta ha
Saad
Ha miim
Ya seen
From what I know from translation is that it is kept the same
Or some say only GOD knows what they mean and not for us to know them
Any opinions on the matter
Thank you

Dear Hamzeh,
Wa alaikum assalam
Please see the article below where I have shared my humble perspective on this matter.
HUROOF-E-MUQQATAT (DISJOINTED LETTERS)

I hope this helps in some small way, Insha'Allah.

Thank you Br Joseph
That is very interesting. Its like giving the chapter a picture of the main topic. I wonder if the early arabs would of had or known of a pictorial symbol or image to each word. Either way I think I would agree and say it is of the Mutashabihat.
thanks again

I would like to point out or add to your comment in your article which maybe be something to ponder on.
"I personally not only find it interesting, but significant to note that despite no fixed theory, no Muslim(s) has ever tampered with the letters, edited it or removed it from the scripture. "
It could also mean that it shows that even every single letter is protected and guarded by GOD. And that no one has the authority to change even a single letter.
Yusuf Ali
We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).
