W-salaam,

I don't see how its the muhmin's responsibility to purify others but certainly his/her own to keep their own self in that state. The autonomy of choice is after all, what Allah(SWT) Himself reminds Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w) and the Qur'an listener/reader about. The muhmineen can explain and share their insights on how and why Allah(SWT) has ordained pure standards of personal conduct, though more often than not, are confronted by munafiqs and/or mushrikeen who seek to subvert and undermine the sanctity of the Qur'an vis-a-vis certain abusive 'hadith/sunnah' claims and who also attempt to corrupt them(muhmineen).

Assalamu-alaikum,

The Qur'an apart from the ministries of Prophet Moses and Jesus(peace be upon them), also describes that of Prophet Noah, Ibrahim, David(Daud) who was granted the text of Zabur( believed to be the equivalent of Psalms), Solomon, Lot, Zachariah, Joseph(Yusuf), Shuaib, Dhul-Qarnaiyn, Dhul-Khifil, Issac and Ishmael(peace be upon them. All Prophets of Allah SWT.

Assalamu-alaikum,

I have gotten permanently blocked from the IslamicBoard message site by the moderator Hamza Asadullah for raising my objection on Mufti Menk's preachings on zina from his video entitled 'Caught your spouse cheating- what to do about it?' from over a year ago. In it he advocates that wives should keep quiet and forgive their husbands and not disclose their zina to anyone. He appears to have later modified reposts of the talk with the same title but his message nontheless insinuates that this not a matter to be brought to the attention of a would be Islamic nation's authorities to enact the punishment of known zina, but instead to be 'hushed up' so as to perversely keep the marriage going.  His stance is clearly deeply hypocritical and alarming as his later modifications indicate that he has attempted to cover up his original advice and especially because it is in complete opposition to the Qur'an/Allah's Expectations on ensuring that the punishment for zina is enforced (and that too without lightening the firmness of the whipping!).
Those words describing the punishment for zina are not the result of a conspiracy of extremists or masochists whispering into Allah's (figurative) Ear! They are Indeed Allah's Own Words Demonstrating His Standards of Justice. Given the lax social culture that muslim communities find themselves in maybe Munafiq  Menk has sought to appease them and/or maybe he hearkens back to the abusive male-controlling nature of many hadith/sunnah claims.
By highlighting this discovery about Menk on the IslamicBoard site Asadullah responded by labelling me as 'hateful' and 'to not think with emotion' which I found to defensive and prejudiced. One (myself) doesn't need to have had any personal encounter with zina to understand its widespread destructive and chaotic impact on human society!
I have shared this with other QM forum perusers to enlighten them on a very disappointing  experience with a supposedly 'mainstream' muslim discussion site  May AllahSWT grant all steadfast truth-seeking believers and those at risk of being astray His Hidayah and Grace.

From the U.N /Western perspective flogging is viewed as ‘torture’ which it is and in the Qur’an is advocated and reserved for those who commit serious crimes.
Because purity of the self/ virginity holds next to no value in or even in ‘traditional’ Arab/Asian/African  culture extra-marital sexual relations are not viewed as ‘serious’ offenses. They are seen as a personal independent right. Yet, Allah(SWT) views that even the (verbal) slander of a chaste female merits 80 lashes which would certainly leave its unforgettable mark.
Never mind that sexual promiscuity has decimated villages and towns across Africa and Asia and that it costs 12 billion UK pounds annually to contain and manage the fallout from sti’s and that Western European is currently going through an sti epidemic and all the disease resistance that it breeds- as long as the sexual interaction is consensual it is viewed as normal and actually lawful no matter what it’s nature may be with the exception of children and even that may be the ‘final’ frontier left in their realm.
Now a perceptive person may understand that the consequences of sexual ‘liberty’ have resulted in  a great deal of life-long  torture in disrupting families and community trust and creating a huge disease burden  and that it is only because of mass stolen and diverted wealth to fund such libertine lifestyles by the wealthy in these nations , that they’ve been able to ‘keep the show running’.
So, does their claim that Islam- Allah prescribes torture as a ‘crime against humanity’ have any merit?

Allah(SWT) doesn’t necessarily directly reference His Ownself in these verses but His recommendations and His Ownself are One and the same, aren’t they?

“And it may be that you dislike/hate a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.” (AI-Baqarah, 2:216)

     “فَإِنْ كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰ أَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَيَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا“
For it may well be you may not like a thing, yet God may have endued it with much goodness.(An-Nisa, 4:19)

AOA

Even if the 2nd verse you have referenced were to apply to muslims 'for all times' we still have NO INCONTROVERTIBLE evidence that the so-called hadith claims are indeed the actual words and deeds of Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w).
Much of the hadith doesn't even relate to decisions taken about disputes by Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w) - their construct is typically I heard from so and so say such an such/saw this about Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w) or a companion say such and such/saw this about Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w). Literally, how people both relate and generate rumor.
It is massively and oddly remarkable that none of the contemporaneous 'noble and pious' scribes described in the Qu'ran ever determined it important to serve as an honest biographer for Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w). That neither did the Caliph Rashidun consider it would be good idea to have his words and deeds 'officially' documented to avoid future slander. Turns out they all seemed to have realized that any written work commissioned by man IRRESPECTIVE of it being with regard to a Prophet or even if it had been directed by the Prophet himself was bound to be corrupted. They chose to simply not even give space to that potential risk of a false hadith claim appearing to have emanated from them. Because of that self-evident decision,  we today can have full confidence that any of the nonsensical, anti-Quranic content of 'hadith' works most certainly didn't come from the Prophet/his close trusted companions or the Caliph Rashidun because they at the very least, never authorized them.
