General Discussions / Re: contraception allowed or not
« on: November 04, 2013, 05:09:04 AM »
May peace be with you dear readers ,

Quote
is using contraception allowed in the Quran?

I think ALL forms of contraception are ALLOWED in the Quran including the surgical measures.

Quote
some people say that it is not stating the verse where Allah tells us not to kill our children for fear of poverty. but before conception, there is no child to kill, so I think that it is allowed.

I think that particular verse should be applied in case of Abortion or killing them after birth for the fear of poverty.

Quote
also some say that forms of contraception that require surgery is not allowed, stating the verse where satan says that he is going to order humans to alter Allah's creation, .

Surgery is the absolute measure for Contraception and has many advantages like 1) it is a one time procedure , 2) no side effects , 3) almost nil failure rate .. other measures has their demerits.
 For example : Condoms : non compliance , high failure rates , tearing  during the intercourse ;
                        Pills : increased incidence for certain cancers  ;
IUDs : vaginal bleeding and infections , displacement of device ,etc

In my view that Particular verse should not be interpreted in this way otherwise many other procedures will fall under the category of 'changing Allah's creation' and on molecular level someone can even say that Vaccination should not be allowed.

Lack of use and promotion of contraception is one the cause of widespread Poverty in the developing world esp. Asia. In India , the fertility rate of Muslims is more than that of people of other religions , Christians have lowest fertility rate here . Now , Latest statistics shows that the community with highest percentage of people living below the poverty line  is that of Muslims, Christians having the lowest poverty rate.

May peace be with you ,
Dear 8pider , i think we have already crossed the limits of earth by exploring the moon and sending our robots to mars. Regarding universe , i think we and scientific community do not  have much information about how universe works , it can be a worm hole as you mentioned   oor something else yet to be discovered. Space science is in its initial stage and many things are to be discovered yet...
At the same time i think quran can use the same word while referring to the sky (and not the wwhole universe).

Allah knows best.

Adil

Dear Joseph Islam Sir ,

Quote
We are talking about People of the Book (i.e. the Jews and Christians), not people from other religions such as Hindu's Buddhists, Sikhs etc

May i please  know of any verse which hints that Ahl-e-Kitab (people of the book) used in the Quran are Christians and Jews only and not Hindu , Sikhs , etc.

Currently i think that Just like Bible and Torah , there were Books teaching monotheism in Sikhism and Hinduism too.

Sikhism teach Monotheism , it is Sikhs of today who do not study their scripture and  exaggerate the status of the founder of Sikhism.

Similarly , The is no known founder of Hinduism but the Earliest Known Scriptures of Hinduism (i.e Vedas) teach strict Monotheism.
It were the  scriptures which came later and were made part of Hinduism which led to Idol-worshiping.
there was a movement within Hinduism known as ARYA SAMAJ whose aim was to urge people to come back to the teaching of original scriptures and give up idol-worshiping.
Since I do not know much about the teachings of Vedas apart from that of monotheism i can only guess that it may be from God or is work of a Human-being who pondered on creation plan of God.

[Monotheist translation]

4:41 How is it then when We bring forth from every nation a witness, and bring you as a witness over these?

10:47 And for every nation is a messenger; so when their messenger comes, the matter is decreed between them with justice, and they are not wronged.

16:36 And We have sent a messenger to every nation:......

Dear Mubashir ,
It is clear from the Quran that it took about 40 days (if not less) for the companions of prophet Moses to forget his teachings and return to the path of idolatory and unrighteousness.
Why it can not happen with companions of prophet Muhammad ?
Quran never mentions the name of any Khalifa or whether they will remain righteous or not.
I think all we can do is judge according to the scripture without being much judgemental on Khalifas and the history which reached us.

God know best.

Adil

40:11
[Progressive Muslims]
They will Say: "Our Lord, You have made us die twice, and You have given us life twice. Now we have confessed our sins. Is there any way out of this path"

40:11
[Abdel Haleem]
They will say, ‘Our Lord, twice You have caused us to be lifeless and twice You have brought us to life. Now we recognize our sins. Is there any way out?’

40:11
[Yusuf Ali]
The will say: "Our Lord! Twice hast Thou made us without life, and twice hast Thou given us Life! Now have we recognized our sins: Is there any way out (of this)?"

Yusuf Ali's Tafseer for 40:11:
4371. Cf. Sura 2:28. "How can ye reject the faith in Allah?-seeing that ye were without life, and He gave you life; then will He cause you to die, and will again bring you to life; and again to Him will ye return." Nonexistence, or existence as clay without life was equivalent to death. Then came true Life on this earth; then came physical death or the cessation of our physical life; and now at the Resurrection, is the second life.

I am not satisfied with this Tafseer . To die (for which a previous life is necessary) and to be lifeless are two different things.
Did we had a previous life before the life on this earth ?

40:7
[Progressive Muslims]
Those who carry the throne and all those around it glorify the praise of their Lord, and believe in Him, and they seek forgiveness for those who have believed: "Our Lord, You encompass all things with mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repented and followed Your path, and spare them the agony of Hell."

40:7
[Abdel Haleem]
Those [angels] who carry the Throne and those who surround it celebrate the praise of their Lord and have faith in Him. They beg forgiveness for the believers: ‘Our Lord, You embrace all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who turn to You and follow Your path. Save them from the pains of Hell

General Discussions / Re: Who Determines What is Absurd?
« on: May 09, 2013, 09:04:51 PM »
May Peace be with you dear members ,

The Concept of God itself can not be proved scientifically and will appear 'Absurd' to many Atheist. This does not mean that God does not exist. Science has it limits. there are many questions that science can not answer. Like , How the universe came into existence ? , etc...

The believers have faith in God  and anyone who have faith in God will not deny that Miracles can happen if it is God's will . If it is God's will , anything can happen including the the points you mentioned above.

2:117
Initiator of the heavens and the earth, when He decrees a command, He merely says to it: ‘Be,’ and it is.

Quran speaks about  events of the past to guide the mankind. There is no way to to prove  that the miracles mentioned in the Quran were myths and false stories.  On the Other Hand , Hadith Instructs to adopt inappropriate lifestyle in our day to day life and this can be disproved Quranically and scientifically.

Hadith Contradicting Quran :

Quran : there is no compulsion in Deen 2:256 ;
Hadith : Death penalty to the one who leave Islam.

Quran : Prophet never performed miracles 17:59 , 6:35 ,
Hadith : prophet performed miracles publicly like splitting the moon , etc.

Quran : There should not be an intention of lust while marrying.
Hadith : Temporary marriage in allowed when Women is scarce and badly needed (Bukhari 7/51).

If a  narration contradicts Quranic teaching , isn't it absurd ?

There is another Hadiths which are scientifically wrong :

I will mention 2 examples here.

BUKHARI HADITH :  VOLUME  , BOOK 54, NUMBER 537:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said "If a house fly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink), for one of its wings has a disease and the other has the cure for the disease."

Houseflies are recognized as carriers of easily communicable diseases. Flies collect pathogens (disease causing organisms) on their legs and mouths when female lay eggs on decomposing organic matter such as feces, garbage and animal corpses.

Diseases transmitted by flies
Typhoid
-Anthrax
-Cholera (watery Diarrhea)
-Dysentery (bloody diarrhea)
-Viral Hepatitis (Disease of liver)
-egg of helminths ( worms of intestine)
-Amoebiasis (ulcer causing disease of intestine leading to amoebic dysentery )
-Enteroviruses

BUKHARI HADITH:  Volume 4, Book 55, Number 546:
Narrated Anas:
When 'Abdullah bin Salam heard the arrival of the Prophet at Medina, he came to him and said, "I am going to ask you about three things which nobody knows except a prophet:
1)What is the first portent of the Hour?
2)What will be the first meal taken by the people of Paradise?
3)Why does a child resemble its father, and why does it resemble its maternal uncle"...............As for the resemblance of the child to its parents: If a man has sexual intercourse with his wife and gets discharge first, the child will resemble the father, and if the woman gets discharge first, the child will resemble her."............(continued)

Unlike Quran , This Hadith is not mentioning event of the past but a process which happens during each and every intercourse with successful  fertilization.

And lastly , I will personally dislike if someone writes  about my life  more than 200 years after my death and describing about my sexual relations with my wife in it.  and if someone does so for our beloved Prophet Muhammad , how can it be acceptable to me ?

Regards,
Adil

Dear forum members ,
Peace be with you

Although Quran does not mention anything explicitly on this topic , i think we can not directly conclude that  'such acts not prohibited'.
I have seen this topic being discussed in a facebook group and some Quran centric muslims were trying to explain that since it is not prohibited in Quran 'explicitly' , it is OK to do it.

I want to know your views.

General Discussions / Re: Magic or Tricks ?
« on: April 13, 2013, 07:49:00 AM »
Peace be with you ,

Allah's universe is so much perfect and wonderful.
I mean everything happening around us has its hidden  mechanism.

for example :
If i inject a Medicine or a poison in your veins , It may be beneficial or harmful to you depending on whether specific receptor molecules which accept that particular medicine/poison is present in your body or not.

eg : Insulin resistant Diabetes , Vitamin D resistant rickets(vit. D deficiency) , Iron resistant Iron deficiency , etc  (such  diseases are due to deficiency of receptors , not the original molecule)

Generally when we come across the word 'magic or sorcery'  we think it is something which occurs spontaneously after uttering some words or performing some rituals. like '' bla bla bla ---> a rope changes into a snake''
I remember when my uncle was fatally Ill and was about to die and his mother in law said 'Medicines will not help him unless the magic done on him is nullified by a counter-magic''
such thinking is not only scientifically wrong but also increases hatred between people , they think someone is jealous of them and trying to harm them with the help of magic.

7:116 He said: “You cast.” So when they cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and instilled terror in them, and they came with a
great magic.

7:117 And We inspired Moses: “Throw down your staff;” and it swallowed what they invented.

Is it possible that  magicians of Pharaoh were just tricking and  Magic used in Quran is referring to  tricks and myths ?

Salam

2:102 And they follow what devilish beings used to chant against the authority of Solomon, though Solomon never disbelieved and only the devils denied, who taught sorcery to men, which, they said, had been revealed to the angels of Babylon, Harut and Marut, who, however, never taught it without saying: "We have been sent to deceive you, so do not renounce (your faith)." They learnt what led to discord between husband and wife. Yet they could not harm any one or without the dispensation of God. And they learnt what harmed them and brought no gain. They knew indeed whoever bought this had no place in the world to come, and that surely they had sold themselves for something that was vile. If only they had sense!

Is the above verse properly translated? Are angels sent to "deceive?".

Thanks.

Dear Forum members ,
Peace be with you ,

We all may probably be knowing some famous magicians now a days and we know it is not magic but Tricks which they perform on stage/TV.

True Magic if exist ,  Lacks 'Mechanism of Action' which can not be explained Scientifically and it is unlikely that  power of such secret arts is from God.

Is there any Explicit verse in the Quran which proves that Magic mentioned in the Quran is not referring to Tricks.
