Islamic Duties / Re: Hajj: Well known days and numbered days
« on: July 23, 2022, 07:53:15 AM »
Thanks Wakas for sharing Islamic calendar refuting article. I read it but not convinced as the author concluded with open question on Aam and Sanat and he himself is unsure.
I think when is equally important if not more than what aspect of Hajj ritual (or Ramadan fasting for that matter) else we may be doing right things at the wrong times  ;)

So far as I'm concerned I've not seen/come across better argument and evidences in regards to things involving numbers and calculation in the Quran than this brother's research work, which I shared earlier too:

https://www.quranaloneislam.org/solar-year-lunar-year
https://www.quranaloneislam.org/miracle-of-the-word-day
https://www.quranaloneislam.org/the-4-sacred-months-of-hajj
https://www.quranaloneislam.org/splitting-of-the-moon

Please let me know if my inclination towards his research work has any major flaws risking in arriving at wrong timing of Hajj and Ramadan including 27th (Laylatul Qadr) night.

Thanks Wakas for your response and kind recommended reading. After reading the summary and glanced at some sub topics (I've read this entire article before when we engaged on this topic earlier).

Questions, because it's still missing from your article:
1. What/which are the 4 holy months of Hajj that is well-known?
2. The well-known days (2-10) can be any within these 4 months or are they fixed as traditionalist believe?

Islamic Duties / Hajj: Well known days and numbered days
« on: July 11, 2022, 08:05:40 AM »
Greetings,

Are well-known days (أَيَّامٍۢ مَّعْلُومَتٍ) mentioned in 22:28 and specific numbered/prescribed/appointed days (أَيَّامٍۢ مَّعْدُودَتٍۢ) in 2:203 are one and the same? If so, what are they inside the 4 sacred months?

If lost Hajj months are well-known then what are its well-known days?

One opinion shared based heavily on mathematical analysis argues that the 4 months = well-known days.

Please share your findings.

Salaamun Alaykum,

Which method do you guys think is more closer, in our era, to the Quran's guidance:

  • Traditional/local Moonsighting
  • Traditional/global Moonsighting
  • Moonsighting with Telescope
  • Astronomically calculated calendar
The last one is adopted by many Sunni organizations around the western part of the world with following conditions:
The conjunction has occurred before sunset
The crescent or the moon sets after sunset where there is possibility of visibility.
The angle between the crescent and the horizon at sunset is at least 5 degrees.
The distance between the sun and the moon is at least 8 degrees.

The article below differs from above by without regard to angle and distance so long as the crescent is present in the sky (above horizon) before sunset:

Truly appreciate if you share views with your reasoning.

Thank you

very few, in US and perhaps other places TV subscription has just spiked up.....social media is full of jesting and joking complaining/mocking lock down....and some nations like India has politicized the issue and gave communal color instead of introspection on their brazen violation of human rights in Kashmir (lock down for almost 8 months without internet) and with CAA on entire Muslim minority population with police brutality and Delhi pogrom.....Trump and democrats are playing cat and mouse games with it.....China is not honest about actual death toll and affected people numbers.....

Last but not least, my Whatsapp is flooded with ahadith remedy for Covid-19 as if the Prophet (pbuh) is alive and prescribing it in real time both du'a and dawa (medicine)  :D

Very sad state of affairs, heart wrecking to see the suffering of poor everywhere while rich are enjoying off time and comparing their annoyance of mansion confinement with jail.... :'(

Salaamun Alayka,
Dear Sir Joseph,

I found this in one of the threads here, do you agree with Muhammad Asad's explanation of 9:30?

Quote
On the other hand, Ezra occupies a unique position in the esteem of all Jews, and has always been praised by them in the most extravagant terms.

It was he who restored and codified the Torah after it had been lost during the Babylonian Exile, and “edited” it in more or less the form which it has today; and thus “he promoted the establishment of an exclusive, legalistic type of religion that became dominant in later Judaism” (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1963, vol. IX, p. 15).Do the Jews Call Ezra the Son of Allah? - About Islam

Ever since then he has been venerated to such a degree that his verdicts on the Law of Moses have come to be regarded by the Talmudists as being practically equivalent to the Law itself: which, in Quranic ideology, amounts to the unforgivable sin of shirk, inasmuch as it implies the elevation of a human being to the status of a quasi-divine law-giver and the blasphemous attribution to him – albeit metaphorically – of the quality of “sonship” in relation to God. Cf. in this connection Exodus iv, 22-23 (“Israel is My son”) or Jeremiah xxxi, 9 (“I am a father to Israel”): expressions to which, because of their idolatrous implications, the Quran takes strong exception.

And this:

I also received this explanation from my YouTube subscription:

Can you please share your view and understanding of this charge on Jews not found in their belief system?

Warm regards and,

Islamic Duties / Re: "Wasiyah" distribution in one's lifetime?
« on: December 13, 2019, 05:06:29 AM »
Salaamun Alayka,
Dear Athman,

Thanks for taking time to address my query thoroughly and professionally and to my satisfaction :)

I didn't mean to find or suggest loop hole (God forbid) in Divine instruction, quite opposite I was trying to take cue from these very commands and apply in advance. But as you explained all precautions can and must be kept in mind preparing wasiyah.

I think this (taraka) will never materialize in large estates if we sincerely act on 2:219 and over arching message of Quran condemning hoarding wealth.

Thanks and JazakAllahu Khairan for your kind and detailed explanation  :)

Thanks dear Truth seeker and Optimist for your kind explanations. I feel my question in the main still wanting answer. Let me reframe:

Let's say I want to sell all my immobile assets, estate and other valuable goods just soon after my retirement and give everything to all eligible heirs (and also make charitable donation from this) taking into factors each heirs present conditions albeit keeping the spirit of the Quran for this execution. After this distribution nothing is left which has any significant value if I die later for heirs to fight over on.

Is this better (execution of my will in my lifetime) or make the same exact will and defer it till my death for posthumous execution by trustee? In the former case I feel like I've fulfilled this enjoined duty of God on me. Why write a testament and delegate it to someone and live with the fear of alteration (2:181) & settlement of court battles b/w siblings, rancor, severance of relationships etc (2:182) when I can get the job done myself in my lifetime itself (after retirement)? I also fully acknowledge that this is not practical for everyone in every circumstance but wherever it may become I feel doing yourself seems and sounds more logical and near to one's Taqwa.

Please share your thoughts.
