I am still learning Arabic and i wonder what "Islaam" means according to the root dictionaires. I am also interested in what the word "Muslim" means according to the root dictionaries.

Am i correct, and do they both have the same root, which means peace? But what does the "aalif" means in "I-slaam"?
And does "Muslim" then litteraly mean peacemaker?

Please answer with references and sources :)! Thanks in advance.

How do you think God will judge those who were following the narrations but didn't know they were following and mixing truth with falsehood?

Will only the small elite of Quran centric submitters enter Paradise?

(I am not excluding the Christians and Israelites and other nations who uphold their Scripture correctly from Paradise, lets just focus on those who want to go to Heaven through the Quran)

If so, how good is your Arabic now? How much grammar can you understand when reading the Quran in Arabic?

I started with book 1. It's really great to soon God willingly be able to read the Quran in Arabic instead of from a translation.

The calendar is a luni-solar calendar? Ramadan is in July when there is a scorching heat, and the 3 other holy months follow after Ramadan? The calendar we the Arabs follow given by Omar is wrong ( we couldn't trust him anyways)?

General Discussions / We should follow a luni-solar calendar?

How can we follow a luni calendar? This contradicts: http://corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=12&verse=47#(12:47:1)

If it's luni only, the verse has an error. Or is it the current luni only calendar that is in error?
Because in 7 years, according to a luni calendar, u can't harvest anymore due to the seasons. Harvesting "7 years" according to a luni only calendar will take more then 7 years since you will need to wait for the seasons, because the current calendar moves every year 1 month.

There are a lot of other verses which are very clear about using the sun and the moon. Such as 10:5, which says it literally.

An English translation of the Quran - 9:37 Know that the use of the additional month causes an increase in rejection, for it is used by those who have rejected that they may misguide with it by making it lawful one year, and forbidden one year, so as to circumvent the count of what God has made restricted; thus they make lawful what God has made forbidden. Their evil works have been adorned for them, and God does not guide the rejecting people.

They made the first month one of the holy months and removed Ramadan from the four holy months. Thus they make it lawful what is forbidden one year. The next year they make forbidden what is lawful!!
For those who don't know. They make Muharram forbidden and part of the four Holy months, the first month according to the current Arabic calendar. They removed the (9th) month Ramadan, from being part of the four Holy months.
I learned from the Quran that the last four months to perform Hadj in of the year are the Holy months. Starting from Ramadan, until Dhul Hidjah.

I read the Torah and it mentioned the story about Hagar and Ishmael in detail about her running to find water until the Angel of God came and made the water come from the ground for them. But in the Quran i couldn't find what the Safwa and alMarwah mean or are? Can someone help? How would we suppose to know this by using the Quran alone? Or should we just accept it that we use history for this topic? On wikipedia it says they are the two hills which Hagar was running between to search for water.

General Discussions / Who found out what the real calendar should be?
« on: January 22, 2019, 06:32:43 AM »
Atm we Arabs have a luni only calendar. I believe it should be a luni-solar calendar.

I am trying to figure out what it would look like. If i figured it out, i want to use it for myself.

Also a question i have. When should we start counting the four holy months. All we know is that they follow each other up. My logical conclusion is that we start with Ramadan, and i will stick with this decision to make it practical for myself. This would make the last 4 months be the holy months.
Every interpretation that is more truthful to the one that i have now is welcome.

I think a lot of people who try to follow the Quran don't ask these questions. They are complex though. Especially if you want to decipher the timings of the luni-solar calendar (when does a month start and end, and when does a year start and end etc.).

NOTE: Please reply only if you are doing any research about this topic. Lets keep it clean. Lets not respond just for the sake of responding.

When i read 4:43 i came to the conclusion that: We should not come near the communion while intoxicated, until you know what you are saying, nor if you had an intercourse, unles a wayfarer, until you wash.

Why would God let Jesus Christ, and Moses, David and all other prophets drink wine? And let not Muhammad? Is wine really forbidden according to the Quran? Or did the sectarians invent this false doctrine? Why would wine be forbidden if God is promising the believers rivers of wine in Paradise?

Same goes for wearing gold and silk. The sectarians say that we can't wear them. But God is promising such things in Paradise.

When i read 4:43 i read that i shouldn't pray while intoxicated, until i know what i am saying. Which indicates that we can drink. But we shouldn't be drunk when praying. And if i read the Gospel i read that drinking wine and eating bread at a specific day symbolizes the blood and flesh of Christ. We read that other prophets did drink as well.

How do you guys think about this analyses of the verse. Please stick to Quranic verses, and lets not use 'i think we shouldn't drink, or my family won't except it etc.'

Islamic Duties / How i learned to pray from the Quran..
« on: January 06, 2019, 09:45:06 PM »
So i did a word for word study on Salaat/Prayer and found out: Salaat in Arabic means to follow something closely. The Arabic meaning of the word fits the context of the Quran if you pay attention!

Salaat/Prayer is a Book that is scheduled, 3 times per day, in the morning, afternoon and evening. After the Salaat u can bow and kneel. Before i pray i was myself both physically and spiritually, by washing my hands, face and feet.
(when i bow i make supplication, and when i kneel on my chin, note kneeling on the chin is Quranic, it's a form of being humble since the chin stands for pride, so when i kneel i praise God)

Below are all my study notes of the verses which i found containing the word salaat/prayer:
