If nahar is the opposite of layl.

Then when nahar begins, layl ends and vice versa.

And if "two ends of the day" of the following verse refers to fagr and isha
[11:114] Saheeh International
And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember.

Then nahar begins at fagr and ends at isa.

And Isa corresponds to ghasak al layl.

So is ghasak al layl the beginning of layl ?

There is natural fear that everyone experiences such as being in a state of danger.
But is there any type of fear that could be considered as shirk or is not permissible  ?

General Discussions / The Sura challenge.

In response to the sura challenge article http://quransmessage.com/articles/produce%20a%20surah%20FM3.htm. Where a conclusion is made that its a challenge at a specific time only, the time when the quran was revealed not for now. And that the reason why they cannot bring a chapter like it because they did not yet encompass it's knowledge (If my understanding is correct ). So does this means that once the Quran was completed the sura challenge was no longer valid ?

If so then how does one validate or believe that the Quran is from god if we can't use it ? is there an instinct in us humans that allow us to believe in the truth when we hear it, or is there another route to belief in the Quran based on rational thinking as per

[41:53] Saheeh International
We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?

and

[34:46] Saheeh International
Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allah, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment

How to use the advice of the verse 34:46?

I know the Quran is from God but I don't why I know it. I hope its not because people said so. I hope there is a deeper way for acknowledging the truth.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

How is the Quran structured ?

For instance, does verse 3:7 describe this structure ?

[3:7] Saheeh International
It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah. But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding.


Is there coherence in the Quran ?

يْنَمَا تَكُونُوا يُدْرِككُّمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنتُمْ فِي بُرُوجٍ مُّشَيَّدَةٍ ۗ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ حَسَنَةٌ يَقُولُوا هَـٰذِهِ مِنْ عِندِ اللَّـهِ ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَقُولُوا هَـٰذِهِ مِنْ عِندِكَ ۚ قُلْ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّـهِ ۖ فَمَالِ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمِ لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَدِيثًا ﴿٧٨﴾ مَّا أَصَابَكَ مِنْ حَسَنَةٍ فَمِنَ اللَّـهِ ۖ وَمَا أَصَابَكَ مِن سَيِّئَةٍ فَمِن نَّفْسِكَ ۚ وَأَرْسَلْنَاكَ لِلنَّاسِ رَسُولًا ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّـهِ شَهِيدًا ﴿٧٩﴾

Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction. But if good comes to them, they say, "This is from Allah "; and if evil befalls them, they say, "This is from you." Say, "All [things] are from Allah." So what is [the matter] with those people that they can hardly understand any statement?

What comes to you of good is from Allah, but what comes to you of evil, [O man], is from yourself. And We have sent you, [O Muhammad], to the people as a messenger, and sufficient is Allah as Witness.


The first verse says that all good and evil is from god.
The second verses says that anything good is from god while evil is from yourself.
This can be understood as : when god makes somethings good to human it is a blessing but when god makes something bad it is due to the human's wrong doings.

BUT how can this be consistent with the fact that god tests humans with good and evil as per
[21:35]
Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.


Are all tests that involve evil are due the wrong doings of a human ? (what about children who are born with disabilities they did not do anything evil yet)
And are all tests that involve good a blessing from god. ( aren't blessings sometimes given to mislead people ? )


I would appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on the matter...

[21:35] Saheeh International
Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.

[89:15] Saheeh International
And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."
[89:16]
But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

We can conclude from both verses that anything good or bad is a test.

[16:97] Saheeh International
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.

[10:98] Saheeh International
Then has there not been a [single] city that believed so its faith benefited it except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in worldly life and gave them enjoyment for a time.

But from these verse we can conclude that sometimes good stuff can be a reward in this life.

So can it be a reward and a test at the same time ?
Are the people of Jonah being tested or are they simply being rewarded ?

For instance they can't be used to legislate laws as per
أَفَغَيْرَ‌ اللَّـهِ أَبْتَغِي حَكَمًا وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْكِتَابَ مُفَصَّلًا ۚ وَالَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ مُنَزَّلٌ مِّن رَّ‌بِّكَ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُمْتَرِ‌ينَ  (

Islamic Duties / Salat past down from previous people.

There is a view that states the following:

The Quran came into a working community.

Some of the things they did were right others were wrong.

The Quran came to sanction the right stuff and dismiss the wrong stuff.

The Quran also came to add new laws.

Salat and fasting were from the right stuff they did. So there is always a brief mention on how to do it and several guidelines but not detailed instructions such as in  inheritance laws because the Arabs already knew how to perform salat from the time of Abraham.

Same with Fasting, its not mentioned that fasting means not to eat or drink because it was already known.


Therefore, the right way for Salat and its timing is the way passed down from older communities.
(5 times a day, rakaa= 2-4-4-3-4)

To sum up.....
The Quran only explained in detail what the Arabs did not know but for what was known it was enough to only sanction it.

My questions is about people suffering from chronic depression and how does the Quran classify the issue.

Is it a test from God ?

Punishment from God ?

A result of someones own doings ?

And how should someone deal with it ?
