Salam brothers and sisters.
Please what is the connection between 4:12 and 2:240.
Will be glad if more light can be thrown on it.
Is it abrogation or not?

Salam brother joseph

What is your view with respect to the above verse?
On what ground can it be invoked. As no reason is adduced in the verse.
If u have the chance to marry as much u are capable of what is the need of replacing one with the other. Does this not indicate that the numbers of wives u can marry is limited(like four proponents) .

Salam. But we normally translate zabur to mean psalm. And we have psalm contained in the present bible. I am of the view that the present bible comprises partly the Torah, zabur and injil.

Prophets and Messengers / ABOUT ADAM(P). PROPHET, MESSENGER OR NOT.
« on: June 07, 2015, 08:40:33 PM »

Please brother Joseph kindly clarify using relevant Quranic verses to prove the Prophethood or messengership of the first man on earth(our father Adam).
I have come across arguments indicating he wasn't a prophet nor a messenger because the Quran did not mention such.

Women / Still under verse 4:3 concerning twos, threes, fours
« on: February 26, 2015, 05:34:17 AM »
Salam. I just decide to open a new topic to clarify further on the use of the twos, threes and four to mean multiplicity or not.

A particular verse was not mentioned all through the discussion with khalid. So I decided to bring it to the fore to know if it supports multiplicity or not. Please I will like brother Joseph to throw some light on it in relation to the Verses under discussion. The verse in question is 34:46 in relation to 4:3 and 35:1.

Salam, Brothers Joseph.

Please i would like u to throw more light on the issue of marriage with respect to what constitute it and when does it begin to be legally recognized as marriage. This, i will like you to analyze keeping in view the following Quranic verses with respect to divorce of a marriage that is already existing without sexual intercourse and dowry(specified and unspecified):

2:236 There is no sin upon you if you divorce the women before having sexual intercourse with them, or before setting the dowry for them. Let them have recompense, the rich according to his means, and the poor according to his means. A recompense in kindness, a responsibility for the good doers.

2:237 And if you divorce them before having sexual intercourse with them, but you have already set the dowry for them; then you must give half of what you have agreed, unless they forgive or the guardian over the marriage contract forgives. And if you forgive, it is closer to righteousness. And do not forget the favor between you; God is Seer of what you do.

And also correlating it with other Quranic verses where we are expected to seek them in marriage with dowry and the following verse 4:24 ....As for those whom you have already had joy with, then you shall give them their dowries as an obligation. There is no sin upon you for what you agree on after the obligation. God is Knowledgeable, Wise.

I hope to hear from you soon.
May Allah reward you abundantly for your great effort and forgive you your shortcomings.

Salam Dear Brother Joseph,
thanks for the clarification.

Islamic Duties / Re: fasting and relations with spouses

Salam brother joseph. thanks so much for the quick response and it clarifies the matter. it is absolutely clear that the opposite of halal/permissible is haram/prohibited. does this further goes to say that one can declare haram and halal in other issues when such situation like this arises?? this i believe could be the reasons for so many halal and haram declarations in the Islamic world today i.e halal or haram by deduction.
Is it not safer to just avoid the word haram or halal usage for safety purpose?

Then at what point does this rule apply that we should not utter with our tonques to declare haram and halal to lie against God?

please clarify.

SALAM. i really appreciate this post. i was once a victim of this kind of preaching. its so disgusting. its really a deadly disease for anybody to blindly follow without thorough investigation. May Allah's mercy be upon us.
please brother joseph, is it fit for us to say that it is HARAM categorically to come in contact with your spouses during the day time, as the Quran did not say it is haram outrightly?
I am saying this with respect to the verse that says dont utter lies with your tongues to say this haram or halal to lie against God. masalam

Islamic Duties / Re: SALAT AND TASBIH
« on: September 03, 2013, 04:11:35 AM »

salam brother joseph.

I have long been far away from the net. sorry for the delay in my response.

what i meant by more than five salat is dat if glorification verses are to be used as a basis for identifying the time and naming of salat then we should have more than five salat. this i said in respect to 20:130

pls kindly look at CH20:V130. the atraaf used in the verse is not dual plural but rather three and above plural word. so glorifcation in this verse shows dat glorification is tobe done almost all parts of the day.

This is my humble understanding brother. u might want to clarify it better as i might be wrong in my translation of the this quranic verse.

the bottom line is dat the act of salat and glorification are two different things and should not be mixed up.

This is my humble view

Prophets and Messengers / PROPHETIC TEACHING OF THE BOOK

Salam brother Joseph and all other brothers and sisters in the forum.

Pls kindly treat these verses of the Quran( 2:129,151; 3:163 and 62:2). Especially looking at teaching the book by the prophet.  How does the prophet teaches Quran?

Salam broda joseph. First and foremost I will have to commend u for a job well done. Your website is highly impressive and I just came around it just 2weeks ago and I am highly impressed. More greese to ur elbow brother. The areas I am touching are those where I feel I have different opinions to issues. So do please take ur time to clarify issues and don't be bored with my long talks.

Although there are lot differences here and there and I think this is allowed as long as we do not kill ourselves and brand ourselves with names. The Quran is the furqan and the only authorize Book of guidance. God willing we will surely all make it to al jannah where Allah will clarify issues for those that hold on to the Book(Quran alone) and submit to God alone.

On the issue at hand I think we are still saying the same thing. U have beautifully captured in ur article: studying Quran that wen we want to deal with an issue in the Quran, we will have to bring all the related verses that deals with it together. Dis is d way I understand ur point if I am right.

On salat, Allah clearly says establish salat at a specified particular periods- agreed. He talks abt time of rest and he mentioned names of salat to show d period of time of rest. If this salat does not have specific time been defined somewhere else in the book the time of rest wont be clear. So the time of two ends of the day was clearly defined in the verse u quoted. And it clarify the verse that talks abt rest periods.
Atleast we both agree that the name of the two salat out of either 3 or 5 are salatil fajr and salatil isha. Do u agree??? Or u prefer to call it salatil subh in place of fajr as named by the secondary source? Or u don't believe in names of salat at all??

The question is dat, is the act of establishing salat and act of glorification the same thing? If yes then we have more than five periods of salat bring all d glorification verses together and if NO, then the time of salat is different and sometime coincide with that of glorification but are two different thing. Remember the rituals associated with salat which I already quoted in my previous post. It is also a time ordinance thing which is different form d act of glorification.  Secondly, if they are to different activities, salat name and timing can be derived using glorification verses.

Also, if glorification verses are the same as dat of salat. Then we are not authorize to name any salat out of the ones already named by Allah. So, who has d authority to name a salat that Allah did not named. Except we want to agree that salat fajr and isha are not name of the expected aqimmu salat.

And dat somehow we can still be taking guidance from the secondary source of guidance-hadith. Dis I know u disagree with throut all ur articles.

Once again, I have to commend ur effort and dat of other brothers and sisters in the forum.
