Salaam Bird,

I read your post and I do feel for you.At least you are self reflecting and trying to work things through. I am glad that the articles on quransmessage have helped you in some way and even visiting this forum.

If you haven't done so already, I really do advise that you read the Quran directly in your own language so that you have a full grasp of what God requires of us. It can be very spiritually uplifting and therapeutic when you see those verses of mercy reach out to the reader.

In my personal experience, all the answers about life are found within the Quran and by reading it frequently, faith gets fortified and even rejuvenated. We are here for a test and we must strive to please God and try not to get allured by the temporary life of this World, which in reality is easier said than done.

Salaam Beyond Tradition,

There is nothing in the Qur'an saying anything about Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) being the first to be raised on The Day Of Judgement or that the other prophets will be following him.

We as true believers should make no distinction between the prophets of God who are all in their own way so special and important. We do not know how God ranks them nor should we.

What you mention is derived from secondary sources and please be aware that this story is talking about the unseen future.

The only authentic information about the unseen future is mentioned by God Himself in the Qur'an to make it clear to us what lies ahead.

In my opinion it actually describes this  in ample detail and that is more than sufficient for us, yet human nature always seems left wanting.

Salaam,

There is not really a uniform as such for Muslims, primarily because they come from such diverse backgrounds and cultures. Obviously a Muslim women who wears a headscarf will be recognized by her faith but the instruction for modesty applies to both genders and this can be achieved with different types of clothing.

However the Arabs do have a tradition of wearing long length robes and there is mention of this in the Quran and this article may be of interest to you:

Salaam,

Yes there is mention in the Quran twice of Abraham receiving a scripture know as the Suhuf (Scrolls)

SURA 87
18. Verily! This is in the former Scriptures,
19. The Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

SURA 53
36. Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses -
37. And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements ?

Salaam Duster,

I am in agreement with you..After all if someone has a viewpoint that they strongly believe in, want others to potentially agree with them, then why not engage fully?

I think that if Mohammed was in a serious accident, he would refuse lifesaving medical treatment and go for honey instead  ;D

I'm sorry but I actually disagree with you.  Your posts are not clear and direct about the practical implementations of your particular viewpoint.

You don't seem to be able to answer a  basic question around seeking medical assistance in a serious life threatening scenario.

Hamzeh,

I tend to try and give an overall picture in my posts and do feel that other members are much better equipped at giving the detailed and balanced responses.

I think you have made a pertinent point when you said:
QuoteI although would like to note that the Quran has acknowledged in some way that there is people who have gained or should gain sound knowledge/deeper understanding of the religion/system/deen that they may at least warn/educate/illustrate/caution/teach those who did not take that roll on.

We have many members here who have a deep knowledge and understanding of the scripture and it is commendable that they spend their time trying to impart their wisdom to help others. Much more needed I feel in this current climate, where so many people find themselves confused with Islam and are sadly on the verge of leaving this wonderful Deen.

Salaam Mohammed,

In the article you sent from Joseph Islam, he also believes that the murdered son was innocent:

QuoteAdam's son, who was wholly innocent, was slaughtered by the hands of his own brother (5:27-30). He committed no crime and was simply murdered out of jealousy because his sacrifice was accepted (5:27).

Thus, one brother had to transgress against another so that his sin could be manifested. This is made clear in the innocent brother's own words captured for posterity and remains the bedrock of much of the Quran's teaching regarding our trials here on earth.

005.029
"Indeed, I wish that you be laden with my sin and your sin so you will be the companions of the fire, and that is the recompense for wrong-doers."

The innocent brother was presented as a trial. In the end, both were destined to die at one point or another. No one is to remain on this planet ad infinitum.

Sometimes within God's mighty plan, conflicts are allowed to fester, so that some can become trials for others and an opportunity granted for their transgressions to be manifested and others to do good (e.g. as peacemakers).

047.004 (part)

"...And if God had willed, surely He could have punished them (without you) but (thus it is ordained) that He may test some of you by means of others..."

049:009
"And if two parties among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of God. Then if it returns, then make peace / settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, God loves those who act justly."

I have made bold the parts that I wanted to highlight to you.

Salaam Mohammed,

I looked at your link and still just wanted to know what you would do in a hypothetical situation where for example you were in a terrible accident.  You need to have X rays, stitches, pain medication, surgery for a ruptured spleen, a blood transfusion.

Would you undergo medical treatment?

Salaam Hamzeh,

I totally agree with your sentiments and thank you to those who responded here, putting so much time and effort into their comments.

Salaam Mohammed,

I was just revisiting this thread and wanted to ask you about what you said :
Quote
If X harm Y intentionally/unintentionally, it happens because GOD -THE JUST, THE MERCIFUL letting X to do so, and Y deserves it.
But if Y do not deserves it/is innocent, then GOD -THE JUST, THE MERCIFUL will NEVER let X to do it.
Even if Y deserves it /is a sinner, X will definitely get punished by GOD for this evil deed (if he did it without cause /valid reason).

When you say if Y didn't deserve it/ is innocent then God would never let X do it.

What would say the  about the son's of Adam when one brother killed his innocent brother ? God let it happen.

Your theory doesn't for here.

 Salaam,

As i mentioned earlier, there is a huge problem with the meat industry in that it has become an endless conveyor belt for those poor animals. This is driven by consumerism which can't seem to get enough of meat.

There does need to be a balance I think in order to highlight animal welfare as well as meeting the demands of a huge meat eating population.

Salaam Mohammed,

I just wanted to ask if you would ever seek medical assistance for example if you had an accident where there were broken bones and severe lacerations?

I don't think at that particular moment that honey would be effective. Surely God has gifted humankind with medical knowledge over the centuries where they can assist others, by His grace.

Salaam,

You are correct when you say that our death, the time and place etc is predestined and only God knows that. We cannot change whatever has been decreed.

For example in 7:34
'And for every nation is a [specified] term. So when their time has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].'

The reason we pray for a long life for ourselves and others is that we do not know the when our time is up , so have hope and faith that drives us to ask God.Remember that our time is linear and God is outside that time/space realm, I have an excerpt from Joseph regarding this concept that may be of help IA:

UNDERSTANDING GOD AND OUR CONCEPT OF TIME AND SPACE

"God is not dependant on time nor does He exist 'in time' that He Himself has created. We exist in time and space. God transcends space, time and His creation. He is not dependant on the laws He Himself has created for His servants. A lot of difficulties in our understandings are resolved if we remove God from our linear perception of time and space which God is simply not restricted to. Many verses and theological inferences in the Quran indicate that He is timeless and governs affairs from outside His universal creational scope.

For God, you and I have already died as He is omnipresent in all time spheres past, present and future. For example, when you pray for a dead relative today in your linear space of time, although for you that person has died, for God the knowledge of your prayer was present before He even created the person you are praying for. He took account of that prayer before the Universe was created and before He set his master-plan in action for me, for you and the whole Universe."
