Discussions / Black cat
« on: January 27, 2014, 02:19:56 AM »
hello,
I would like to appeal with to a subject which is spread even today very much, namely the superstition of the misfortune by a black cat.
The subject was or is still in the western literature and also in modern films to symbolize the Bad, besides, the black cat is mostly used there because a lot of fairy tales were told their negative influence on People around , but also black dogs and crows are offered as a representation of the devil.
This superstition was one reason for subjugation of the Afro-Americans and its been not long ago when they got equal rights in Country they live.
To be honest who of ourselves has(had)not a bad feeling when a black cat crosses the street? some of the beliver of this Superstition turn around and leave quite fast the street and go somewhere else long because they have more fear of misfortune as to trust in the power of the creator.
In the Quran it is one of his signs that his creation is colourfull,in sura 30 "Ar-Rum":"And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colours. Lo! herein indeed are portents for men of knowledge. (22)
I think this can be transfered to animals too.

peace to all

@Optimist
I share your Sentiments about men in the "islamic" societies treating their wife like a tool.Thous destroying the real purpose of the mariage namely peace.

I have heard about storys from a man who was infertile but didn´t know it,so he divorced the women and married again but after the new wife didn´t bring birth to child he divorced her too and married again,at the end of the story he came up to nine different wifes.

further Research of the word "Imraat" led to refute my statement of the translation to "old women".In Sura 27:23 the Queen of Saba is called Imraat .
And the wife of Abraham was called Sarai and it was changed to Sarah what means "ruler" also the root of imraat is  a-m-r
what also means ruler so the better Translation is chieftain instead of women.

Sorry and thank you Khalid

Salam Readers,
What i have understood up to now is that the universal law is :
One
M+F

O mankind! reverence your Guardian-Lord Who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, his mate and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women;― fear Allah, through Whom ye demand your mutual (rights) and (reverence) the wombs (that bore you): for Allah ever watches over you.` (1)

All other forms are only allowed in emergencies and only allowed to man with capability to deal justly and it depends on the relation from Man to orphan not to the other women.Because the Basic of the second form is the orphan and somtimes kids dont like other kids, so one had to look who can fit together. This is what is i think to be meant "...women of of choice ,two,or three or four..."

To orphans restore their property (when they reach their age), nor substitute (your) worthless things for (their) good ones; and devour not their substance (by mixing it up) with your own. For this is indeed a great sin. (2) If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or that which your right hands possess. That will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice. (3)

فأقبلت امرأته في صرة فصكت وجهها وقالت عجوز عقيم

And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" [51:29]

Therefore - the only meaning possible for the word "Imrat" is woman.
Salam this Quote you´ve made belongs to Abraham not to Zakariyah ,so these Prophets are very old and their Partners supposed to be even old ,the bible is describing the wife of Abraham like the quran.
http://biblehub.com/genesis/18-11.htm

Lot i is the cousin of Abraham and should be also be at the same Age like Abraham(pbut). The Age of Noah is described in the Quran at it confirms that he is very old during his ministry .

Comming to the age of the King and Pharao of Egypt i have no knowledge about, but it could be a form of heir Dynastie that makes the succesor the ruler of Egypt.

Salam khalid,
These are the male persons with their female partner where the terminous "Imraat" is used.

3:35 إFemale  and Imraan
12:30 Female the royal of egypt
28:9 Female and the ruler of egypt
66:10 Female and Lot/Noah
11:69-72Female and Abraham

It is recognizable that these Person follow a ministry in an advanced age, also the Prophet Muhamad (pbuh) female Partners are mentioned in the quran but with other terminous not with the word"Imraat".

I dont know at what age the prophet was when the ayats where revealed but we can assume that the persons above had to be older than the Prophet when he demised.

Salam khalid,
I have to research my statement because i found in "surat Jusuf" that the wife of the king has desires for Jusuf
".And women in the city said: The ruler's wife is asking of her slave-boy an ill-deed. Indeed he has smitten her to the heart with love. We behold her in plain aberration. (30)"
My question now is do have women in an advanced age feelings to fall in love with a young man?I know about old man taking very Young women as a Partner but the otherway round is not so common.

Marhaba Khalid to the Forum,

Just read chapter 3 :40 in this ayat you read that Zakaria(pbuh)is telling that his spouse is not young anymore so is he and that and because of her mutual age.
I only want to hint that the translation should be checked i haven´t found a Tafsir about this theme.Feel free to refute my statement  with sources that count.

Women / Old women in sura 2
« on: January 09, 2014, 03:12:54 AM »
Salam ladies,
While i was reading chapter the Cow i came to a part which made me sceptic about the translation, see:

"Surah Al-Baqara"

(282)"...if two men be not (at hand) then a man and two women, of such as ye approve as witnesses, so that if one of the two erreth (through forgetfulness) the one of them will remind."

This sounds discriminating and denigrate the women so i looked up every part in the quran at hand, wich mentions women in the Translation. The words in arabic where not all the same there are words to describe the gender itself, words for spouses, girls and mutual ladies.
The arabic word used above is ٱمۡرَأَتَانِ

And i came to know that it is used for women beyond her Menopause look:
Sure 19
"(4) Lo! I fear my kinsfolk after me, since my wife is barren. Oh, give me from Thy presence a successor (5) Who shall inherit of me and inherit (also) of the house of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, acceptable (unto Thee). (6) (It was said unto him): O Zachariah! Lo! We bring thee tidings of a son whose name is John; we have given the same name to none before (him). (7) He said: My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached infirm old age? "

So in my humble opinion the translation isn´t really correct

Women / Prophet Mary
« on: January 04, 2014, 02:50:28 AM »
Salam ladies and Gentleman,
I want to bring up the subject of the prophethood of Mary(pbuh)which Scholar of Islam draw as an ambigious theme. We find a whole chapter named after her "Sura Mariam" we find other chapter named after persons, all of them where Prophets.

In Sura 3 which is called after a familiybanch of Prophets we find an hint of Marys prophethood:
Surah Al-E-Imran

And when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah hath chosen thee and made thee pure, and hath preferred thee above (all) the women of creation. (42)
Only prophets are chosen by Allah(s.t) and her miracles can be read in the chapter 19 which confirm her status. There we find a dialogue between an angle and her ,this makes her prophethood clear.

How would you translate-sunblocker protect the skin.........->against her(sun) rays.
                                            example for masculine.........->against his (Moon)light.
                                            example for Neutrum?

Thank you in advance

salam,
I want to talk about the myth about the unpurity of dogs which the secondary source of Islam is proclaiming by stating a prayer is not accepted when a dog is nearby or the angels will not enter a house with a dog inside. In sure 5 we see that animal hunted by a dog is allowed to eat.
Sura5:(3)ٱلۡجَوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِينَ K-L-B is the root for Dog
In sura18:17we read the Story of the companions of the cave with their dog and we see that Allah is using the pronoun "We" this indicates that someone is moving the young men and the dog from side to side, this can only be angels. So the myth of dislike from angels about dog is obsolete.
