Aslamaolaikum Saya

It depends what you mean by Shariah law. If you mean a lot of laws like stoning to death for adultery, killing of apostates etc which many Muslim clerics advocate is Shariah law, then that is not in the Quran. Saba

salam at all
no no i say if i would stop the prayer.  ;)
I wanted to say that in the eyes of most traditionalists, what ever we really do, all our arguments are a priori wrong .... (I saw this by my husband, who freaked when he realized that I pray during the period , think what his reaction would be,if  I would tell him about some discussion about the prayer??) ::)

Thanks for clarifying  8)

Aslamaolaikum Chadiga,

I am little confused with your response to which I think valon has also responded. Are you saying that you stopped praying because of what others / traditionalists said to you?   :o :-\  Saba

Salam sardar miyan

The Arabic language is melodious in itself. The Quran is poetry. So we see today is that the human mind takes  a song with melody  much more quickly than 'just' a mere text.
I can well imagine that it is Rahma of Allah that he has passed us the Koran as a revelation sung, precisely for the reason that it can be better absorbed and not only to pronounce it correctly.
how often have you songs, which you can not get rid of and hums all day?so  Should be the Quran, a huge buzz that we never let go .... :)

I agree with this too  8)

Salam Sr. Chadiga. If I understand this correctly, in the submitter or Edip's world, if someone does not believe in the theory, then they are blinded according to this theory. So all those Quran orientated Muslims that do not believe in this theory are doomed according to them. That is the interpretation as I understand. This is a very serious matter. When they claim to take two verses out of the Quran - something which is a very very very serious claim to a Quran believing Muslim, and they predict the Day of Judgment (like RK did), they are attacking the central part of their belief. Then they are going to get heated responses. This is no small matter like I said.

It is fine to question, but there has to be limits based on proof. It is no use pushing a theory which has problems in it and causes fitna between Quran Muslims. At a time when we should be bringing Muslims together - this issue is dividing even Quran people - This 19 stuff is nothing but fitna. You are most welcome on this forum and I for one, really enjoy you here. But yes, the 19 theory is a problem for many believers who BELIEVE IN THE QURAN ALREADY AS THE WORD OF GOD. Now we have to force them to believe that the Quran they believe in has 2 faulty verses that were never revealed? So the 19 theory may not be so welcome as this matter has been discussed over and over again on many forums. You can see for yourself on free-minds.org and ourbeacon etc. In the end, this only divides Quran people while other traditionalists laugh at us. There are more important things to resolve in the MUslim Ummah than isolated theories that cause further divisions and fitna. Saba.

Aslamaolaikum all.

The 19 debate is an old one and I agree with Doc. It is nothing but trouble and occupies the time and minds of believers unnecessarily.  It was even recently carried out on the ourbeacon forum. Quite simply, Edip didn't have much answers and looked very weak in his responses.

Aslamaolaikum brother Sardar,

I do not think that the earliest Muslim's could have got it so wrong and introduced five prayers if there was no support in the Quran. Prayers seem to have been practiced in masses from the time of the Prophet. So I completely agree with you. But is Mutwatir not usually referred to Hadith? Saba.

Aslamaolaikum br. Mubashir / all.

I find this a straight forward parable which shows that God is beyond human concept of time and that life, death and ultimate raising is within God's power. I find Yusuf Ali's note quite compelling:

Note. 305:

"A man is in despair when he sees the destruction of a whole people, city, or civilization. But Allah can cause resurrection, as He has done many times in history, and as He will do at the final Resurrection. Time is nothing before Allah. The doubter thinks that he has been dead or "tarried thus" a day or less when the period has been a century. On the other hand, the food and drink which he left behind is intact, and as fresh as it was when he left it. But the donkey is not only dead, but nothing but bones is left of it. And before the man's eyes, the bones are reunited, clothed with flesh and blood, and restored to life. Moral: Time is nothing to Allah; it affects different things in different ways; The keys of life and death are in Allah's hands; Man's power is nothing; his faith should be in Allah."

What would be the problem in accepting such an explanation or are we suggesting that miracles don't happen? If so, if we can't accept that God could resurrect the donkey, then how can one believe that resurrection on the Day? Surely we can't deny that too. It is within God's power to do anything.

My two cents worth. Thanks, Saba.

Aslamaolaikum

With regards 'khatams', it would be far more useful if people got together and discussed the Qur'an in a language they could make sense of. They would get far more out of it. However, I agree that no one can judge intentions and how they will be taken into account. Only God can decide that. Saba

Aslamaolaikum Visionary.

The only correct Aqeedah that I know of a true believer is what is in the Quran, for example:

(1) Belief in One True God (2:285) with no partners (112:1) and the Last Day (2:62)
(2) Belief in the Angels (2:285)
(3) Belief in the Quran (2:285)
(4) Belief in the previous revealed Books (2:285)
(5) Belief in the messengers of God (2:285)
(6) No distinctions between the messengers. (2:285)
