Peace to all,

Since Quran is a guidance for the muttaqeen, it lists several characteristics of theirs in many verses.  One of them is in verse 49:3 where the hearts of those who lower their voices in the presence of the Prophet are tested for taqwa.

The Muslim scholars say that it is forbidden to raise voices at the prophet's grave just like it was forbidden when he was alive, because he is highly respected whether he is alive or dead.  Do you agree with this explanation?

How can I adopt this attitude  in my life now other than the gravesite?  Does this also cover the attitude of those who take it to themselves to protect the honor of the Prophet by causing uproar in the world and shed blood?

A hermit fasted for an entire year, eating only once a week. After this sacrifice, he asked that God reveal to him the true meaning of a certain passage in the Scripture. No response was heard.

“What a waste of time,” the hermit said to himself. “I gave up so much, and God didn't even answer! Better to leave these parts and find a monk who knows the meaning of the verse.”

At that moment, an angel appeared. “The twelve months of fasting served only to make you believe that you were better than others, and God does not answer a vain person,” the angel said. “But when you were humble, and sought help from others, God sent me.” And the angel explained what he wanted to know.

Certainly God does not love the proud ones.

I carry a torch in one hand
And a bucket of water in the other:
With these things I am going to set fire to Heaven
And put out the flames of Hell
So that voyagers to God can rip the veils
And see the real goal.

A pencil maker once took a pencil aside prior to putting it into a box.

"There are 5 things you need to know before you go into the world," he told the pencil. "Always remember them and they'll help you reach your potential."

"Firstly, remember that you will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in someone's hand."

"Next, keep in mind that you will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become better."

"Third, don't forget that you have the ability to correct any mistakes you might make."

"Fourth, the most important part of you will always be what's inside."

"And lastly, on every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write."

"....So tell them a tale, perhaps they might reflect." ~ The Holy Qur'an, 7:176

Islamic Duties / Re: women and hajj

Peace to you Nura,

You are correct.  It is un-Quranic.  If I'm not mistaken Sharia rules do not allow women to travel alone especially in Saudi Arabia.  I know of someone in Canada who  tagged along with her colleagues to make the hajj pretending they were her mahram.  I do not know how kinship has to be proved.  Which is more sinful?  To deceive or the laws of the country that lead one to lie in order to make the hajj?

Peace brother,

I do not know what the original says but the translation I have read says: "All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people".    What is your understanding of this statement?  It seems to me that the Prophet is hoping that later generations will be in a better position to comprehend the message of his words.  Please correct me if I have misunderstood.  I meant sahaba not salafi.

Salaam Wakas,

Apologize for not being clear.  My focus was not on Muhammad's prophecy.  I want to highlight the part that the future generations would understand the spirit of the Message better than the contemporaries of the era, if I may say so.  In my opinion, it debunks the need to imitate the Salafis.

Salam,

Prophet Muhammad's farewell sermon "....Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example, the sunnah, and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people".

Majority holds the belief that the "sahaba" knows or understands the best.  The  prophet could foretell the future.
