Women / Nullifying a marriage.
« on: August 31, 2015, 02:24:51 PM »
Assalamu alaikum,
According to verses of the Quran that discuss marriage and divorce,is there anything that says a marriage would be nullified if a couple mutually agrees to no longer have a physical relationship?

Salaam good logic,
It is not important really,I was just trying to say I don't think the individual from the 70s that you mentioned is not brother Joseph.but,it doesn't matter because brother Joseph chooses to remain anonymous which is a decision I highly respect.I suppose I was just quick to reply without thinking which is something I tend to be guilty of a lot.

Salam good logic,
I do not think the person you mentioned above and brother Joseph are one and the same.

Salaam sister zafreen,
I think the fasting mentioned in the verse is referring to cases of manslaughter, not murder. It is prescribed for those who cannot free a slave.i don't see the fasting as an extra punishment but,an aid to seeking acceptance of repentance from God.

Salaam,

I was just a bit worried regarding the following verse:

006.159
"Indeed, those who divide their religion and break up into sects, you have no part with them in the least: their affair is with God: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they used to do"

Does this mean that as Muslims we have to break all association with the type of people mentioned in the verse.

General Discussions / Patience
« on: July 17, 2015, 05:01:58 AM »
Salaam,
According to the Quran,Allah loves the patient. If there is something bad in someone's life,as a believer,is that person supposed to try and fix the problem,or just be patient and accept it.I know that certain negative things that happen in our lives serve to make us better humans by increasing us in patience, humility, kindness etc.Do we run the risk of removing something from our lives that we are not happy with but that would have actually helped us in improving ourselves in the long run?
Sorry if I am not making much sense. It is just that all my prayers tend to be in general terms because I am worried about asking for specific solutions to my problems incase those problems turn out to be Good for me after all.

Salaam,
I think because the prophets where not Arabs, their names were according to their mother tongues but, since the Quran was being delivered to an Arab audience, the names were translated to Arabic. It's just like how the dialogues between the previous prophets and their people were also translated into Arabic in the Quran.

Assalamu alaikum.

1.Please can someone advice me about where to start if I wish to study the previous scriptures.

2.I am also confused about the Injeel and the Zabur. From my reading of the Quran I understand the two to be different scriptures revealed to different messengers but,I am told that the psalms of David is part of the Bible.Does this mean the two scriptures where merged together?

Thanks.
