I would be grateful if you'll could share your thoughts about what would constitute striving in the way of Allah. Strife is highly complex and subjective and one's strife might be another's ease but over a general scale of deeds.

Kind regards and thanks

Although i follow the Quran alone for laws and life's guidance, I would like to know if the Quran discourages or encourages one's own creativity when it comes to praising ND glorify God. There are some ayats that are absolutely amazing, where Allah shows us how to Glorfiy him, which Im Assuming is there to cover all aspects of guidance though not limiting it.
Would it be wrong to for example compose poetry, or use any other hadith material to Glorfiy Allah the Almighty?
My heart would say that Allah through his own guidance could encourage one to seek out creativity in glorification or should one be limited to the Quran alone and Allah's words alone to praise him.

Kind regards and thanks

Salaam,
Is a believer fundamentally different from a muslim?
What are the main differences between the two?

Salaam.
In the past I used to look for proof but since the state of my heart changed I now now no longer need it. But Allah does say if the Quran was from other than Him it would have had contradictions. How does one understand this verse? Is it directed at disbelievers, who would desperately try and find a contradiction by going over each and every word of the Quran? I mean as an ex tradtionalist, I kind of new the Quran was from God, but obviously I didn't read it a lot hence during times of low belief and needing proof I never really read it to test its veracity based on it having no contradictions.
Would it be fair to say that one must first truly beleive in God to then truly accept the Quran being from God with no proof needed? How does one who is a new Muslim assert proof that the quran is from God without being able to prove that there are no contradictiona?

Kind regards

Verse 2.98 states
"
Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels and His messengers and Gabriel and Michael - then indeed, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers."

I would like to know if Allah is saying

1) his messengers AND Gabriel and mikaeel
or

2) his messengers Gabriel and mikaeel.

Unfortunately I am can read nor write Arabic.

Thank you.

What did Mary and zacharia abstain from speaking?
What is the benefit of this abstention? Did Allah command this of them?

General Discussions / Revenge and evil for evil
August 18, 2019, 04:07:17 PM
Salaam.

Can someone please help me understand these verses.
It does feel like a method to keep evil folk in check although forgiveness is better. I am struggling to understand the wisdom in these verses.

Kind regards,

42:40
And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation -  his reward is [due] from Allah . Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers.

42:41
And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged -  those have not upon them any cause [for blame].

42:42
The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right. Those will have a painful punishment.

42:43
And whoever is patient and forgives -  indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination.

I would appreciate if one could point me a verses/verses that clearly show salaah as an act of worship by bowing, prostrating, standing and reciting from the Quran

I do believe there are almost 100 derivative uses of the root word salah and not being either Arabic speaking nor a scholar I would appreciate any help.

Jzk. And kind regards

Although I recognise that Allah in the Quran clearly asks politeness and be non judgemental to all, does the quran over any advise on whether one can trade or do business with open/blatant polytheists

General Discussions / Day of arafah in the Quran
August 21, 2018, 08:48:59 PM
Salaam all
I've heard numerous things about the day of arafah.
2 years of expiation of sins if you fast, the day of resurrection, hajj not  Valid if the arafah ritual not complete, etc
Does the Quran say or prove any secondary claims??

General Discussions / Right hand and not left
July 25, 2018, 08:38:17 PM
Salaam all
I would like to learn the significance of the "right hand" mentioned in these verses
Why right over left?
Not the right side as in other verses but "right hand" as Allah refers to his right hand. I believe this is symbolic but in what way?

then he turned and struck them with his right arm.
-Sura As-Saaffat, Ayah 93

These people have no grasp of God's true measure. On the Day of Resurrection, the whole earth will be in His grip. The heavens will be rolled up in His right hand- Glory be to Him! He is far above the partners they ascribe to Him!-
-Sura Az-Zumar, Ayah 67

We would certainly have seized his right hand
-Sura Al-Haqqah, Ayah 45

You never recited any Scripture before We revealed this one to you; you never wrote one down with your hand. If you had done so, those who follow falsehood might have had cause to doubt.
-Sura Al-Ankabut, Ayah 48

'Moses, what is that in your right hand?'
-Sura Ta-Ha, Ayah 17

There are other verses that talk about records being given to the successful in their right hand.
It is is difficult to ignore the significance of this right over left and its understandable that when seperating between right and wrong it's the right and wrong that actually matters and not the side they are on, but still the right hand seems to be favoured over the left.
Did the Arabs traditionally favour right over the left? Do other scriptures Alude to any sort of right over left preference?

General Discussions / Is hajj obligatory?

I found this an interesting read (quite short), but for the  lack of my Arabic grammar has not convinced me.

I have read Joseph islam halal food section and although it is quite clear I have a couple of questions.

1) There are same claims that all food (apart from what is prohibited) can be eaten once God's name is mentioned over it. In the case of meat only grazing livestock, hunting dog kills etc.  Is this true?

2) Animals slaughtered that which over God's name has NOT BEEN mentioend. Is this a requirement whilst slaughtering or before eating or both?

3) Is "ziba" a requirement and if so then what is it?

Kind regards jzk

General Discussions / Names of the 12 mths
July 16, 2018, 02:38:18 PM

How would one know what the 12mths are without learning it from tradition? Does the Quran name all 12mths as a new concept or were they already in use before?

What is a fatwa? Does the Quran support it and if it does then on what grounds can they be issued  by whom and what are the consequences of not adhering to them in God's eyes?

Forgive me if this is a slightly disturbing question but after listening to zakir naik say he can list a 1000 things God can't do I was curious to know others thoughts.
I believe there is a verse where Allah says there can be no more than one God as they will fight for dominion and the fact that we are told repeatedly Islam is submission to one God we know there can be only one God. My question is, could God still create another God like himself if he wanted to?

General Discussions / The Sam Gerrans Salaah
July 01, 2018, 03:51:48 PM
Salaam
I was wondering if anyone had read or listened to Sam Gerrans version of salaah and had any ideas about how he has managed to convince some people that salah is not prayer and consists of no physical bowing or prostrating.

Nowadays halal meat is sold everywhere not just in Muslim shops, infact Hindu and Chinese restaurants now serve meat labeled "halal".
The meat could have been slaughtered by a muslim, but is it still considered halal if idol worshippers are selling it from behind idol stacked counters.  The animal that was dedicated to God at the time of slaughter now suddenly being sold by someone who perhaps doesn't believe in a God at all seems a tad sneaky

Please share your thoughts

So again we go into a time of heated debate about when ramadhan will end, with fancy astrology charts, and metoerical weather talk etc
I can understand when it's completely overcast and those that would rather witness the new moon to end the month of ramdhan cannot do so.
Can one not simply follow a hijri calendar for 2018 or is that being too presumptuous?
How do I know when to end my fasts? Please somone help!

Kind regards and jzk
