General Discussions / Re: Flogging Punishment And As A Deterrence.
« Last post by Kaifa on July 24, 2022, 07:30:06 PM »
W-salaam,

I don't see how its the muhmin's responsibility to purify others but certainly his/her own to keep their own self in that state. The autonomy of choice is after all, what Allah(SWT) Himself reminds Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w) and the Qur'an listener/reader about. The muhmineen can explain and share their insights on how and why Allah(SWT) has ordained pure standards of personal conduct, though more often than not, are confronted by munafiqs and/or mushrikeen who seek to subvert and undermine the sanctity of the Qur'an vis-a-vis certain abusive 'hadith/sunnah' claims and who also attempt to corrupt them(muhmineen).

Islamic Duties / Re: Hajj: Well known days and numbered days

Thanks Wakas for sharing Islamic calendar refuting article. I read it but not convinced as the author concluded with open question on Aam and Sanat and he himself is unsure.
I think when is equally important if not more than what aspect of Hajj ritual (or Ramadan fasting for that matter) else we may be doing right things at the wrong times  ;)

So far as I'm concerned I've not seen/come across better argument and evidences in regards to things involving numbers and calculation in the Quran than this brother's research work, which I shared earlier too:

https://www.quranaloneislam.org/solar-year-lunar-year
https://www.quranaloneislam.org/miracle-of-the-word-day
https://www.quranaloneislam.org/the-4-sacred-months-of-hajj
https://www.quranaloneislam.org/splitting-of-the-moon

Please let me know if my inclination towards his research work has any major flaws risking in arriving at wrong timing of Hajj and Ramadan including 27th (Laylatul Qadr) night.

Islamic Duties / Re: New Article: what is 'al hajj' according to The Quran?
« Last post by Wakas on July 22, 2022, 02:19:38 AM »
Article has been updated with a small clarification/correction:

"the hajj are months well known so whoever specifies/obligates the hajj within them..." 2:197

i.e. it is the person that determines this. Similar to what I said about when to end it, see article.

General Discussions / Some questions

Salamun Alaikum Br. Joseph
This is my first post and I apologise if I’m posting the wrong way. Alhamdulillah it has been an eye opener and I’m grateful to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala who has guided me here, and may Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala reward you immensely for all your efforts. I have three questions and any answers from my fellow brothers and sisters would be greatly appreciated.
My first question is regarding goodly loan, it is mentioned in the Quran:
“Indeed, those men and women who give in charity and lend to Allah a good loan will have it multiplied for them, and they will have an honourable reward.” (57:18)
What kind of deeds can be seen as goodly loans?
My second question is something I’ve been thinking about, albeit rather foolish. We know that fish is halal, does this mean that it doesn’t have to be slaughtered or killed in the halal way? And if this is the case do you then not need to utter Allahs Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala name over it? I’m thinking about the verses 6:145-146, 6:119, 6:121, 5:3, 2:173. Also if the name of God don’t have to uttered over it then it still is important that it hasn’t been killed in the violent ways specified at verse 5:3, which is something one doesn’t know when eating fish in the restaurant for example. Lastly do anyone have advice on how you pray if you’re in an airplane. I will fly soon Insha’Allah and the Asr prayer will occur while we are flying. Should I pray standing up? I’m pretty sure that I can pray at the back of the plane near the galley. Have anyone been in a similar situation before?
Jazak’Allah Khair

I haven't studied in detail the "when" aspect. Here is a reasonable article that gives some good points: https://www.free-minds.org/blind_dating

I see little evidence for the traditional position with regards to timing/calendar, especially when considering this:

Thanks Wakas for your response and kind recommended reading. After reading the summary and glanced at some sub topics (I've read this entire article before when we engaged on this topic earlier).

Questions, because it's still missing from your article:
1. What/which are the 4 holy months of Hajj that is well-known?
2. The well-known days (2-10) can be any within these 4 months or are they fixed as traditionalist believe?

Islamic Duties / Hajj: Well known days and numbered days
« Last post by Student on July 11, 2022, 08:05:40 AM »
Greetings,

Are well-known days (أَيَّامٍۢ مَّعْلُومَتٍ) mentioned in 22:28 and specific numbered/prescribed/appointed days (أَيَّامٍۢ مَّعْدُودَتٍۢ) in 2:203 are one and the same? If so, what are they inside the 4 sacred months?

If lost Hajj months are well-known then what are its well-known days?

One opinion shared based heavily on mathematical analysis argues that the 4 months = well-known days.

Please share your findings.
