Yes Wakas, I do agree with your points (particularly #3), but they still come across as unnecessarily callous and arrogant. Like ilker said, who the hell cares how many people are suffering? God says that the death of just one soul is equivalent to the death of humanity (5:32). It doesn't matter to me whether 1k or 5k people die there. People are dying. Also, we need to be both proactive AND reactive. Mainstream coverage of a tragedy does not somehow make it any less potent. And like ilker also said, were you out there protesting the Assad regime pre-2013? If not, kindly desist from making snarky comments at others here on this forum. I think you can also see how your previous comments here on this thread could have been wildly misinterpreted, given the complete lack of context you provided.
Yes, world hunger is another serious cause. As is malaria, civil war, lack of access to clean water, religious persecution, AIDS, drug epidemic, etc. None of these causes are "more important" than the rest.

Thank you brother Hassan

Again, I am quite confused on why you insist on repeatedly asking the same question on this forum over and over again when people have consistently given you answers to it. Have those answers not helped?

Salaam. Sorry again for the long wait in between posts. As I said before, I just finished finals today, plus this is the longest article I've written so far, tackling a very complex subject:

With all due respect Wakas, do you seriously not know what is going on in Aleppo? Brother ilker is absolutely correct that this is one of the biggest human rights tragedies of our times. And what do you mean 'what action you took to prevent the situation in Aleppo arising in the first place'?? I am seriously confused by your response.

First thing to do as I stated in my article would be to begin fostering reconciliation between Muslim sects. This does not mean ignoring theological differences, but rather, coming to a common understanding. Second, we need to resume intensive study of the Quran and begin formulating a workable mode of governance for the 21th century. We should also begin forming organizations to campaign for these causes. The only ones I can think of are Hizb ut-Tahrir and Muslim Brotherhood, both of which are largely ineffectual. Lastly, we can begin revolution across the Muslim world.
Like I said, this will take decades, if not centuries, but it is never to early to start. How should we proceed now? Firstly, begin studies of the Quran. Rally as many people as you can to the cause. Disseminate literature, and so forth. Social media was practically built for this kind of stuff. The communities we form may seem small at first, but they will evolve. Try donating to help oppressed Muslim minorities worldwide: Palestinians, Rohingya, Uygur and Han Chinese, Shiites in ISIS territory. Small steps. Will be writing earnestly about this soon as I have the time.

Firstly, so sorry for the long wait in between posts. I have finals in a couple days, so my writing time has been stretched thin. However, I am proud of this new article. It summarizes a lot of my personal political thoughts that I have alluded to in previous posts.

Not to be disrespectful here, but this question has been asked many times before, including by you yourself. Brother Joseph has additionally addressed it countless times. At any rate, you already seem to have the answer based on your citation of 60:8. With all due respect, I cannot see why you are continuing to ask it.

"Yes a basic one would need to be more defined by those in authority, and would possibly be different from that of the believing people. The question is what is considered fair without causing harm while giving the freedom of choice?"
Yes, a very pertinent observation Hamzeh. The idea that all members of a society have to abide by a basic dress code, while a heavier one is enforced on Muslims' specifically is an interesting one. I'll have to give more thought to it.

Hi Hamzeh-
I do feel the Quran mandates the hijab, for the reasons listed in my article. Lowering the eyes is a two-way ideal: Believers' should avoid indecency, and indecency should be avoided by the wider society. Please note that the people of Lot were not only destroyed for committing lewd acts, they also committed them loudly and proudly in full view of the public.
Despite this, breaking the dress code, or even going full on nude, would not nearly fit the criteria for 'corruption in the land', but expect heavy fines.
Some places in the West still have laws against public nudity, others do not.
I think it is perfectly fair to apply a basic standard of decency across a community  (both believer's and nonbelievers). I do not feel this is an infringement on their rights.
As for the niqab, based on 33:59, I don't believe it is recommended, but it certainly wouldn't be banned either.
