What is maqam-e-mehmood in 17:79

Please can anyone explain to me the meaning of maqam-e-mehmood in 17:79?
Is this the rank that will be given to the Prophet pbuh on the day of judgement as traditionalists claim?

It means "Honorable rank" or "High rank". According to Qoran there are three ranks at GOD s:

1- "Al Mukarraboon" High rank.
2- "Ashaab Al Yameen"  Middle rank.
3- "Ashaab Al Shimaal" Lowest rank.

That is my understanding.
