Islamic Duties / Re: Is Sectarian is Shirk

Salaam,

The Quran instructs us not to divide into sects regarding religion. It encourages brotherhood and unity in order to create harmony and cohesion.

Salaam,

I am sorry to hear what you are going through and I can understand why you feel ashamed and guilty. I think that Shaytaan tries to throw you off course in different ways and it may be that he is preying on you in this manner as you mentioned that you pray and submit yourself to God.

Maybe instead of ignoring the thoughts, you should challenge them in your mind. If for example you have a doubt about a particular aspect of Islam, you should explore it and once you have satisfied yourself that there is a counter argument for it then it will hopefully remove the doubts.

Also praying specifically for help  to rid you of such thoughts will Inshallah help you spiritually and remove your anguish.

Salaam,

It could well be that a situation manifested itself in which the prophet learned the truth about these people.Or as you say their actions and behaviour gave them away. Also possibly through a dream.

Ultimately the truth came out about them as it would have to be clearly established to him who the hypocrites were in order for him to follow the direction from God not to offer funeral prayers.

Salaam,

I think that if you extrapolate on the verses, if you have not visited the toilet or are subject to the other things that invalidate your wudhu between prayers, then I do not see the need to perform it every time.

Salaam,

To the primary audience at the time of revelation, these descriptions of heaven would be alluring to them and they could relate to them given the hot arid climate that they lived in.

People who live in other climates like Siberia etc should understand these verses with the above in mind.

Salaam,

It is because both the verses are at different time frames, so when it is mentioned that the prophet does not know who the hypocrites around him are, at that time he didn't know. Whereas in Surah Taubah the prohibition of praying for the hypocrites can only be obeyed if the prophet knew who they were and God would have made that manifest to him.

 Salaam,

As Joseph mentions in one of his articles:

"a 'Sunna' is a practice which has been passed on by a community from generation to generation en masse, whereas the Ahadith are reports collected by later compilers often centuries removed from the source."

The prophet (pbuh) practiced prayer fasting etc then his sahabah would have done so also. What you need to do is if you come across any practice that people claim to be part of 'deen' then just look at it in light of the Quran. That is the key,and if a practice is aligned to the Quran then there is no issue at all.

Salaam,

Thank you for the translation. The poet's sentiments clearly are against the Quran !

Salaam

I agree that since a date range for the fragments has been given and we don't know the exact date of the prophet's birth, they easily overlap each other so I feel that the article is being unduly sensationalist.

Salaam,

The way you pray can remain the same as it satisfies what the Quran says in regards to the components of prayer. You don't need to change it.

Salaam Sardar Miah,

If possible, please can you translate what the poem says so members can comment on it?

Thanks

Salaam,

If God himself describes Himself as Holy, then surely by describing His scripture as the Holy Quran by inference is not a bad thing.

General Discussions / Re: Is refusing cancer treatment suicide?
« on: September 14, 2015, 06:21:39 PM »
Salaam,

I think that it depends on what stage the cancer is at and if there is a good chance that you can go into remission, then I think it is important that you have treatment as preserving life is important. Also with chemotherapy advancements nowadays, the side effects may not be as bad as they used to be. You may feel worse initially but will be better in the long term.

If though the outlook is very bleak and you only have months to live, then I do not see it being an issue for wanting to be free of medical treatments in the final stages of your life.
