Resources and Information Portal / Origins of the Arabic Alphabet
« on: September 13, 2017, 05:26:54 AM »
This post is greatly based on information and text taken from the book called Arabic Reading and Writing made easy by Dr. Bilal Philips. The Arabic alphabet is the second most widely used alphabetic writing system in the world. However, the Latin alphabet is the most widespread. Arabic language was carried across much of the eastern hemisphere by the spread of Islam. Arabic alphabet script has been adapted to such diverse languages as Persian, Turkish, Hausa, Malay, Urdu, Spanish, and Swahili. Although, it probably developed in the fourth century as a direct descendent of the Nabatean alphabet, its origins and its early history is vague. Some scholars believe that the earliest extant example of the Arabic script is a royal funerary inscription of the Nabataeans dating from CE 328. In my opinion it maybe a updated version of Aramaic.  The Arabic alphabet has 28 letters, all representing consonants and is written from right to left. 22 of the letters are known as connecting letters which means they connect the letters that come after them.
Six letters are known as non-connected letters which means they do not take a modified connecting form. Sometime after the rise of Islam in the first quarter of the seventh century CE and the emergence of the Arabian Muslims as the founders of one of the world’s greatest and most advanced empire the world has ever seen, which literally lead the way to our modern science today. Without them the US and Europe would still be living in mud huts in candle light, the term Arab was used by these Muslims themselves and by the nations with whom they came in contact with, to indicate all the people of Arabian origin. So, when the Arabic language replaced the local languages in many countries of the middle east and north Africa the term Arab came to refer to anyone who spoke with Arabic alphabet as their native language. The Arabic is the fifth most common language in the world. The reason being because the Koran is written in Arabic. A question that some atheists have posed as to why would god reveal his holy text in Arabic language rather than all languages of the world. They pose that isn't god able to reveal the holy text in any language that he so chooses. The answer to that is of course you can reveal the text in any language that he chose, and since the Koran is the main miracle or sign of the evidence of Islam then it should be accessible to all people of all nationalities and languages. Then why is it revealed in only the Arabic language?
I will be answering this question in detail in one of my videos on my channel but I can tell you that God can surely reveal the Koran in all and any language he chooses and he could have revealed one for each language but the miracle can still be witnessed even by non-Arabic speakers, for example the science miracles like this fact in verse of the Koran which says: "And it is we (God) who created the heavens and we are continually expanding it" verse 51:47 of the Koran. When I first read, this I was shocked and scared because this fact took billions of dollars to find out and modern science only recently found this out in our own time and spent billions to discover that, yet a book preached by a illiterate Arab already spoke about this over one thousand years ago? And as I said when I read this I was shocked and scared. You may ask, why would you get scared if you were already taught the Koran is a miracle? The reason I got startled and scared is because although I was taught the Koran is a miracle and I read a few of the science miracles but I never really felt it's so amazing. But with this fact, I could understand for myself how huge the universe is and how hard it is to find this fact out, so when I found it in the Koran I got scared because it no longer was simply blind faith but now I am seeing damning evidence and that really scared me. Because when you accept religion, much of it for most people is blind faith, simply following what our parents taught us. So, for now you can view around 5 Arabic lessons that I posted on this forum for easy access: http://www.ummah.com/forum/showthread.php?493311-Arabic-alphabet-Pronunciation-and-Language

Resources and Information Portal / Arabic Alphabet Learning Material
« on: July 20, 2017, 09:01:25 AM »
I always wanted to be able to read the Quraan in Arabic and hadiths but growing up in the west I felt like I could not do it. Even though I grew up to Arab parents, I still could not read or write, can you imagine that? So I gave up on that goal at the age of 10, I completely lost hope and gave up on that goal on trying to read the Arabic alphabet and start being able to read. I didn't try to learn after the age of 10, I had totally given up, until I had to take a Arabic and reading course while studying at the Islamic University that is online called KIU. In my first semester I had to take a Arabic alphabet course to learn how to read and combine the letters and as soon as I started I loved the course, I thought it would be really boring and hard to follow and I took the same course before at IOU but it was just audio lessons so it was not easy to follow. I decided to create and make my own course like it and I intended to charge a far lower fee then the University and I did that but now my course is free on YouTube. I know many people don't like prerecorded videos lessons thinking it's not a effective way to learn, well, this method is a effective way to learn. But if you prefer live lessons, I can not say who is a good institute since I never tried any myself. I would try a free trial of any instructor and see if I liked the learning style and course material. I know of two different pre-recorded video lessons providers and based on few videos I have seen, I didn't really like the learning style. And one charged $1000 for a life time access to the course which is really a joke, I told him no one will pay $1000 for a arabic alphabet or arabic vocab course because no one has that kind of money laying around.

Self taught books do not seem like a good or effective way to learn because it is really hard to self teach a language but I guess it's not possible because my brother did it.

A good book I used is the same book we used at the Islamic University and you can likely find a free version of it at IOU, and they may now have the arabic alphabet course free there with video lessons instead of just audio lessons now. It was at the free diploma section when I took it here.

MadinahArabic is not a good option in my opinion but I have not tried them myself but I contacted them and they were rude along with eallim and Arab Academy although Arab Academy was less rude, but I can't say if they are good at teaching arabic. And I tried to work briefly with work for a Quraan academy that I can't recall the name and they were also very rude. Manners and kind treatment even without any gain and empathy towards others is very important to me. I found arabic institutes and Quraan institutes as among the rudest and least caring people which is a big shame.

I intend to review a few institute and add them to this resource page that I have made along with a few books from amazon or programs that maybe good but for now my free YouTube course is at that link: https://www.quora.com/Where-can-I-study-the-Arabic-alphabet

Salam Alakium, my name is Mohammed and I am a learn Arabic alphabet teacher and I provide a online course for people who want to learn Arabic online using pre-recorded video lessons. I will also have several free islamic course online on my website as well. One such course will be the Islamic Misconceptions Clarafied course and in that course I will be refuting common modern day Islamic misconceptions. A common claim as you all will know is Islam promotes terrorism and allows it. I refuted that and you can read my article about that subject already online on the the site topix under the islamic forum section. As most of you know the bigots are barking harshly on YouTube comments and on forums and even on videos that are islamic for Muslims and videos that have nothing to do with islam, so its important to refute the dogs when they bark. I also posted a article on the same site stating the top 10 ways ISIS was not Islamic. Many Muslims are not educated in the basics of Islam so they stand no chance refuting bigots and do you want to people to insult islam and th prophet and do nothing about it? That is the worst type of Muslim in my opinion. So as I said my Islamic Misconceptions Clarafied course will be totally free and you will learn effective and progressive replies and responses to bigots common accusations. I learned to refute them simply by debating with them on youtube comments for around 4 years and that is what trained me to be able to refute them. I will give you a quick example, the bigots say: Islam promotes terrorism and they say its no wonder ISIS does what they do its all in the Quraan and then they cherry pick verses. Now, what would your response be? Take a minute and imagine what would you say if discussing this topic with a bigot who is spreading lies? My reply is islam doesn't allow terrorism and you can't cherry pick verses to understand the meaning of the verses unless you read before and after the verses and if you don't do do so you must also conclude the Torah and Bible also promote terrorism because there are just as many apparent war and killing verses in both of those texts. I presented them the killing verses from the Quraan in the start of my article then I stated as I just said then I presented several war and killing verses from the Bible mainly from the Old Testament and one from the New testement of JESUS AS words according to Christians which was: "Do not think I have come to bring peace I have come with nothing but the sword":  book of Mathew. So as you can see I am just giving you a really quick summary of one of the refutations the entire refutation consists of a 1450 word article and as I said I will present all the refutations in video form on my website. And that course will be free among a few other courses like Arabic reading 102 and a Tajwed course which will not be taught by me. The only course open now is the learn arabic alphabet course which is presented via prerecorded video lessons as all of the courses will be. That course consists of 20 sessions that are around 1 hour long each. The learn arabic alphabet is open as I said and accepting students. Th free courses will be ready insha-Allah this summer. I have a A+ rating with the BBB which I am very proud of. So if you want to learn the arabic alphabet com home at your own pace which is not free. Or if you want to learn how to refute the barking dirty bigots then save my website on your computer and stay updated for the free courses and please dad more about the learn arabic alphabet course on this link that I posted a while back: http://www.somalinet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=373094

Salam Alakium everyone,

Many of you I am sure like to learn arabic alphabet and then be able to read Arabic texts and speak or at least understand. I had same goal and thought I will never learn how to read and write in Arabic. The first step is to find a easy and simple and clear learning method. Some use apps or YouTube videos or self taught books and I don't recommend those methods for most people since the method is  usually very hard to learn. I could not read at all any arabic texts wheather little or long, it did not matter since I could not even identify the arabic alphabet letters. That is the first step that you must take. When I first started to learn arabic alphabet I learned it at Islamic Online University and I enrolled at the Arabic Reading And Writing course by Dr. Bilal, however they currently don't provide that course now free in the free diploma section, they used to provide the course free but there was no video only audio and no video!!! So how can you take a language course and not see the teacher instruction in front of you! That makes no sense. I bought the copy of the book we used in that course so I can at least follow along and try to imagine or guess what the teacher was telling us and I learned most letters but I forgot them all shorty after due to having no visual instruction. Latter, I enrolled at Knowledge International University and enrolled into the BA program and during semester one the same instructors mainly teach at KIU as they do IOU, so the arabic course was the same. But this time there was video instruction since I was a enrolled In the paid BA degree section. So I learned al-hamdullah and I advanced in my arabic reading and writing but mainly my reading. I already could speak and understand arabic since I grew up to a Arabic family of Palestinian descent. I just could not read or write arabic texts.  And you don't even have to enroll my point is there are so many ways to learn online free and not free and there are some really cheap quality courses like mine. You can also download the book I studied free and try to self teach yourself if you want. You could contact IOU and request them to send you a free PDF copy of the book Arabic Reading And Writing Made Easy. My brother self taught himself but it took him years and took me few months as opposed to him. You can watch a free session to learn arabic alphabet and start being able to read and write arabic texts on the website and if you like to start free message on this thread: http://madinah-institute.com/page/arabic-alphabet

of course not. It doesn't talk about everything that's nonsense. Is eating lions haraam? doesn't say its not in the Quraan and there is no science prove it hurts people.

8
the other two things are in hadith I though it was in Quraan but Quraan doesnt teach all details.

How do you pray?

The details are not there.

Discussions / Learn arabic alphabet With This Basic Text Lesson
« on: January 19, 2016, 10:28:53 AM »
Salam Alakium,

I will discuss all 28 letters of the learn arabic alphabet and the sounds they make but I will not be discussing and using the over 100 connecting forms that they use. The first letter is Alif and the sound it makes is like a long 'a' sound the shape of the letter is ا. The letter Alif is a non-connecting letter which means it does not connect to letters that come after them. The next letter is baa ب and the sound it makes is like the English 'b'. Next is taa ت which makes a sound like the English 't'. The next letter is ث thaa and the sound it makes is like the 'th' sound in English. The next one ج jeem and the sound is like the English 'j'. Next comes ح hAA and it has no real English like it its different then the 'h' sound. It sounds like a 'h' sound but with more of a scratching sound and heaviness to it. Next is خ khaa sound like the 'kh' sound in English. Next is د daal and the sound is like 'd' in English and this letter is also a non-connecting letter. Which means it does not connect to letters after it. Next comes ذ dthaal and it has no real letter like it in English. It sounds like a 'd' in front of a 'th' sound kind of. Next is raa ر and the sound is not like the 'r' in English it sound more of a rolling sound like 'r' with a rolling sound like the sound you would make as a child of a motorcycle. Next comes ز and sound it makes is like 'z' in English. So as you can see its hard to learn arabic alphabet via text alone by I am trying to give you a idea of the letters and the sounds they make. Lets continue; next comes س seen and the sound is like 's' sound. Next we learn the letter ش sheen and the sound it makes is like the 'sh' sound. The letters zaa ز and raa ر are both non-connecting letters that I forgot to mention. I also should have mentioned in Arabic the text is read from right to left the opposite of English. You may be thinking this is too hard I am never going to learn arabic alphabet. I don't blame you, however; you can learn as long as you have easy and clear learning method. I was like you I did not know the Arabic alphabet but look at me know. Let continue, next comes ن noon and the sound it makes is like the 'n' sound. Next is ف faa and sound it makes is like the 'f' sound. Next ط TAA a heavy 't' sound which I letter in English sounds like it. Next comes ظ THAA a heavy 'th' sound also no sound is like it in English. Next we take ص saad a heavy 's' sound which also has no letter like it in English in arabic they are referred to as heavy letters. I should mention I am not going in order as it serves no real purpose. The next learn arabic alphabet we will take is م meem 'm' and the sound is like the 'm' sound.

So you all accept Quraan and reject Hadith.

So how do you pray nearly no details is giving on how to pray. So how do you pray don't huNat me with a reply I am not interested in your lies.

Anzaal al Kitaab wa al HIKMAH - wa means a addition what's the HIKMAH which means way and sunnah always means way or method.

So the hadiths are just made up? Your basically saying the Sahaba and the students of the Sahaba made them up. Shame on you.

15
Yes the Quraan does mention all these things you are correct 100%

And the Qurannioon who say it doesn't go read the Quraan.

My reply is yes islam mentions all those things to protect society from evils and the same laws are in the Torah and bible so are they not a religion of peace?
