Discussions / Re: Religious authority to specific Sunnah practices
« on: February 05, 2016, 09:04:52 PM »
Dear SStikof,

Sunnah is only related to ritual practices like Salat, Fasting and Hajj. Sunnah means a "well trodden path" and this is not the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad pbuh, as he did not bring a new religion called Islam, Prophet Abraham pbuh is called the great patriarch by Quran to establish Islam, and Prophet Muhammad pbuh is directed to follow "Millat e Ibrahim". Therefore, the sunnah defined by traditionalists to make it revolve solely around Prophet Muhammad pbuh's personal choices like using twigs for brushing, cupping of blood, right foot for coming our of bathroom, left foot for going into the bathroom etc. is totally incorrect. These things are not sunnah, their definition of sunnah is wrong. What has beard got to do with the deen of Islam? It was a cultural fashion back then.

Once you turn over to the quran-centric spectrum of Islam, you will see how much petty things were taught to you by the traditionalists clergy men.
Therefore, your question regarding walking or using airplane has got nothing to do with System of Islam :P

Dear SStikokf,

There is no need to re-invent the wheel! If the sunnah practices, practical tawatar: far more authentic than narrations, remember "actions speak louder than words" :) are not conflicting with Quran's message, then keep on doing them! No problem, but some sunnah practices are also corrupted like "attaheyat" in salat, which does not make any sense and is conflicting the Quran, logic and common sesnse in my humble opinion.

Discussions / Re: Should we reject hadith ?
« on: February 05, 2016, 06:17:28 PM »
Salam SStikof,

It is simple! Quran does not allow any authority apart from itself in the matters of deen, where the book is silent, it is silent on purpose, God never forgets, He knows all the Future.
In the areas where Quran is silent, it allows the community to make decisions on their own, keeping in view the general message of Quran, but legislating a law to be from God, by using sources other than Quran is tantamount to shirk. No room for any saying or practice to come and fill in the blanks in the Quran and claim to be a part of "God's shariat". If you find wisdom in any hadees, it is good, adopt it, but making it an authority on par with Quran is simply rejected by Quran itself. God does not allow any prophet to issue any personal commandments and declare them to be permanent from God, unless it is in the scripture. Since this stance is established by the Book itself, then what of the ahadees corpus themselves, the authenticity of which is in doubt from day 1 of their compilations?

General Discussions / Re: Re: Wearing trouser/pants below ankle! & Code 19
« on: February 05, 2016, 06:02:42 PM »
Salam Everyone,

I am not for or against code 19. Let me state the pros and cons of this code based on my humble research.
Pros:
1. It leaves out all the doubts that this Book is from God almighty. Some may argue over mathematical structure based on 19 breaking down at some places, let it be! It has given me far more aaurance that this indeed can not be a coincidence and is not random.
2. Gives till date, the better translation of Surah Mudassir! It makes much more sense, especially verse 31. 19 number of angels have not removed doubts from the hearts of Christians and jews regarding this book and if this number of angels are to be revealed on the day of judgement, then there is no use, as everyone will be a believer on the day of judgement.
3. Hafs, warsh and various recitation problems is solved, as hafs is the only recitation on which this code is held.
4. The long held debate of whether "bismillah" is part of Surah Fateha or not, is resolved by this code. It is part of Surah Fateha!
5. Made me 100% sure that there is only one kind of scriptural Wahi, there is no wahi-e-khafi, this seriously challenges hadith peddlers.
6. Corrected a spelling mistake in Quran of the word "bastatan" as is found in today's circulation of printed quran. The oldest manuscript of Quran in topkapi also has the word "bastaatan" with "seen" instead of "swad".

Cons:
1. Removes two verses from the surah Tauba, which is very very confusing and fishy to me, which makes me believe that this code holds a "partial reality" not the ultimate truth in itself.
2. Makes people obsessed with this code, and instead of pondering over Quran's message, it makes them delve deeper into the mathematics and Gematircal values, most of the time.

Therefore, i would say this code gives me further assurance of Quran being the word of God, but still i consider the last two verses of ch. 9 to be a part of Quran. Call me being choosy and picky! it does not matter :)
Recently, i was thinking about all those who oppose this code 19, had the quran with us had not those 2 verses in it, all their arguments would have in turn be made for the favor of this code. Just a thought!

Salam Sardar Miyan,

I know this might be off topic but i have done a bit of research on code 19 and find it convincing, not that i believe that this miracle is there to remove two verses of Quran, but surely it has given me a lot of assurance that there is only one kind of wahy :) and that Quran is indeed the word of God, and a lot of problems are solved by this code like hafs and warsh recitations and is bismillah part of surah fateha or not.

Near me, to take this code as a something which can altogether remove 2 verses of the quran is a big no no! I know people can call me cherry picking and choosy about this code but that is okay. I think Quran is completely preserved by Allah and this code serves to give further assurance but maybe Allah put those two verses in the Quran as a test, so as to see how many people make this much far fetched and stretch it too wide.

Quran does not contain any verse to declare the trouser/ankle relation of a praying believer. This is not an issue in front of over-arching message of Quran!

Islamic Duties / Re: Questions about Durood Shareef Prayer & Attaheyat
« on: January 12, 2016, 04:47:49 PM »
Thanks for the reply Hassan A.

It indeed helped! My question regarding Durood's "technical aspects" are not yet answered :)
By technical aspects i mean, that praying for Prophet Muhammad's pbuh progeny "Aal" does not make sense as we are told in the Quran that he is not the father of any of us, furthermore, historical accounts whether one likes to call them ahadees, as ahadees are no more than historical accounts to me now, albeit  quite a mishmash of contradictions they are! also tell us that Prophet's lineage was not continued as the male offspring is considered to be the bearer of family's name.

What is considered "Aal" of Prophet Muhammad pbuh by masses is actually "Aal" of Ali, so how is this technical aspect of Durood prayer resolved?

Islamic Duties / Questions about Durood Shareef Prayer & Attaheyat
« on: January 12, 2016, 02:57:03 AM »
Dear Sir JAI,

By the grace of Allah, i have now turned to quran-centric Islam but regarding Salat i have a few questions about "Jalsa" (sitting) position in the Salat:
1) Now that "Attaheyat" does not make any sense, because since the Prophet is not omni-present and it is hard to believe that the Prophet pbuh actually read this Attehyaat himself, why will he be addressing himself in the first place? and the traditionalists give explanations that this is the dialogue between Allah, Prophet Muhammad pbuh and Gabriel on the Miraj ascension a story which finds no support from the quran and seems fabricated to me. This "Dialogue" explanation also seems to be conjured outta thin air as i have not come across another hadees to explain it. It might be someone's opinion without any textual evidence. So, can i recite any other Quranic prayer of Prophets in the place of Attaheyaat?

2) I have read your article about Durood Shareef Prayer. Quran tells us that Prophet Muhammad pbuh is not the Father of any of the believers and is the messenger of Allah and seal of Prophets. Now, what is this progeny of Muhammad pbuh are we praying for? As per historical records, Prophet's sons did not survive and his daughters were married, the lineage is carried by males, we all know that and not from female children, such as Fatima's sons from Ali are "Aal of Ali" and not of Prophet Muhammad pbuh. So how does this durood make any sense? Can i omit this durood and say some other quranic prayers?

Please help me i shall be much obliged.

Discussions / Mutwatir Hadees
« on: October 17, 2015, 08:02:07 PM »
Aoa,

I have a question, as Quran instructs us to have atleast two witnesses for a financial matter, can using the same directive we approve mutwatir ahadees, which have atleast two persons narrating from the start in two different chains? or the two witnesses are necessary for worldly matters only and not for divine revelations or anything that is a part of God's infallible system?

What will be the status of such a mutwatir hadees? will it become binding on us if it gives us extra-quranic law or theology and what about mutwatir ahadees that have more than 2 persons from the start of isnad? Can they then become authoritative? I know, its authenticity will no doubt increase but will it become a binding on us?

Thanks in advance!

Aoa,

@Sardar Miyan, so you mean to say that using two witnesses, we can then conclude that all mutwatir ahadees starting from atleast two different persons can be a binding on us?

Prophets and Messengers / Re: Is the Prophet Muhammad Alive?
« on: October 13, 2015, 03:24:55 AM »
Thanks a lot Br. Joseph Islam for your time and efforts, may Allah reward you immensely for all your inputs.

So, after studying your article and replies, it appears in the verses 3:169-172, Allah is telling us the future where the martyrs will be in paradise enjoying the sustenance provided to them.

So why is Allah specially saying that the ones slain in His way are not to be called as "dead"? in other words, anyone who has died, be it any one, can not be called as dead, as they will be alive in future, in either hell or paradise.

This is getting a bit confusing or am i missing the point? :-\

Aoa,

Excellent analysis by Br. Joseph Islam, as usual, impeccable and flawless, MA!

However, there is a little confusion, i would be much obliged if anyone can clear to me.

Are martyrs being given provision in Jannah? have they already entered Jannah? Or will they wait for the day of reckoning and then after their deeds are weighted will they then enter Jannah?

Please elaborate and give me a chance to oblige.

Aoa,

Please tell me if the battle of tabook as detailed in quran was offensive or defensive? As i have heard that Prophet pbuh wrote letter to roman king and he killed the Prophet's emissary.

Please elaborate, i shall be much obliged.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Sir! :)

Aoa,

I have read the articles posted by Sire Joseph Islam, which mainly portray that Islam does not allow one to invade other people's lands and only allows for self-defense or to remove oppression and make justice prevail.

Now, with this in mind, it seems that all the khilafat expansion from hijaz to europe and africa in Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar's Era were illegal and against Quranic directives?!

Moreover, people say that Islam is a system of life, and all systems want to prevail and subdue other systems. So it means that various parties like "hizb-u-tehrir" are right in their stance to make Islamic System rid all other systems from the world?!

Please elaborate and help me, im confused :(
