Salam all,

I came across this verse:
Eat then, only that over which God's name has been pronounced, if you truly believe in him. Why should you not eat what has been consecrated in God's name, when he has forbidden you unless you are compelled by necessity? ...do not eat anything over which God's name has not been pronounced, for that surely is disobedience.

According to this verse...are we commanded to eat only on which God's name had been pronounced?.. Like..even in vegetarian food?..or is it mentioned only for the food..which should be slaughtered?... Like halal meat?..or is it enough to say..Bismillah before eating anything?... Or..are we not allowed to eat..vegetarian food..produced by non-muslims?..

Can u guys plzzzz..clear it..
Regards,
Anjum

Peace.

She refers to that from 6:118:
"فَكُلُوا مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ" ("Eat (and know that the word isn't restricted to what you "eat"; see 4:181)  that of which the name of the god has been "ذُكِرَ" —I don't know what I should translate this word as, it has to do with rememberence, reminders, and the such— upon"), through to 6:121.

Would someone provide a good description of what the word "ذُكِرَ" means?

Peace.
