Wa alaikum assalam Arshad,
Welcome to the forum!
As a vicegerent on earth (2:30; 6:165; 10:14), one's purpose can be summarised very broadly as:
- To search for the truth and believe in it once it has been manifested to us (as did prophet Abraham - 6:75-79). This includes the recognition of the essence of God (His Oneness and Overarching Authority over Creation) and a seeking a path closest to Him with a view to please Him (18:24; 73:19).
- To live a goodly, righteous life (e.g. 7:33), discerning acutely between right and wrong (21:16-18; 90:8-10) with justice (4:135) amongst trials and tribulations, designed uniquely and collectively, to test our mettle (2:214; 8:28; 3:186; 2:155).
- To believe in the Last Day, Resurrection and ultimate accountability.
Another way to understand overarching purpose from a Quran's perspective is to understand in a nutshell, what will allow humans to receive respite on the Day of Judgment. The Quran repeatedly alludes to this as (1) Belief in the One True God, (2) The Last Day and (3) The need to do good deeds (2:62; 5:69; 60:6; 65:2; 29:36; 33:21).
I hope this summarises an answer for you.
Regards,
Joseph
