Ayah 33:52

[Sardar Miyan]

33:52 Henceforth, no other women shall be lawful to you (O Prophet), nor can you substitute anyone with other wives even if you find them attractive. None beyond those you already have. Surely, God is Watchful over all things.
Salam All, Can somebody explain as to why this Ayah was revealed to our Prophet ?

Dear Sardar,

As-salamu alaykum

Notwithstanding any wisdom that can be readily extracted from the verses you share [1], [2], if the Quran has not deemed it necessary for religious guidance to elaborate as to why a particular instruction / verse was revealed to the Prophet, then with respect, believers should not attempt to seek 'explanations'.

"...enter not, therefore, into controversies concerning them, except on a matter that is clear..." (18:22)

This is sadly, the kind of questioning that has arguably given rise to many stories in the past and a plethora of questionable literature dealing with 'Asbab ul-nazul' [3]
