Salam Brother

Just want to share a comment on Facebook with a Br. Aurangzaib, who was once associated with Dr. Qamaruzzaman's aastan.com (learning Qur'a through dictionary alone).

We were analysing the meaning of Muslim and Momin.

Salamun Alaikum

I have a question for you. It is basically for those (not your kind self) that attempt to understand the Quran mainly through dictionaries.

If we cannot rely on hadith which is a secondary source of the second century AH+, how can we rely on the dictionaries which have also been influenced by the same people in the second century AH+ and is also a secondary source?

What would you say if I said, I am going to learn Urdu from dictionaries only to undersand Ghalib? As a native Urdu speaker what would you say to me?

Now think, what would a native Arab say?
