Dear readers of this forum, Salaam .....

Please see two Quranist 'heavyweights'- Wakas and Farouk Peru, battle it out tooth and nail on the free-minds forum regarding their 'Quranist' method. I have been reading this thread with a lot of interest of late and it says so much in so many different ways. Also note how the discussion turns into personal attacks and who said what to who ... a lot of self esteem flying here as well I think.

Moderators - The reason I have shared the link is also so people can judge for themselves some of the Quranist posts that have been put up on this forum such as those shared by Wakas and the method behind them when it is examined by other Quranists.

Personally, I think all this Quranist method is a whole big problem, but readers can decide for themselves Saba

Happy reading folks!!!

Interesting comments by an observer on these threads when asked to discuss a matter by Farouk Peru.

QuoteWakas and yourself pretty much went at each other for 7 pages in that thread alone and neither one of you have changed your respective positions at the end of it all.

QuoteIt is my very humble opinion (and I mean absolutely no offense to anyone here) that those who continually participate in intellectual debates do so because they find enjoyment in debating with others or they feel they need to validate and justify their views by trying to enforce them on others, hence the downward spiral from discussing to trying to WIN an argument. Or maybe it is both of the two reasons. Whatever the reason(s) it's not for me.

Dear Saba,

Peace to you.

I find the latter quote you have shared worthy of note which resonates somewhat with my own sentiments which I share below.

QuoteENDLESS ONLINE DEBATES

We often forget basic Islamic courtesies and etiquettes when discussing the message of God on rapid fire online platforms. The opportunity to respond immediately masks an inherent snare allowing it to capture our emotionally aggressed state of mind in that very moment.

As such, online debates can often become a breeding ground for vitriolic exchanges as it provides fuel for irreparable damage. An opportunity to spread the message of peaceful message of the Quran turns into a platform to breed hatred.

It can often leave an indelible mark on our own personalities.

As a good friend so eloquently shared with me today:

"In the endless debating world, unless one is careful, one unknowingly picks up the abrasive style of one's opponents"

So true indeed.
