questions on permissibility of certain kinds of food
« on: April 28, 2013, 01:25:15 AM »
Salam brother,

hope you are doing well. I would be very grateful if you could answer the following questions:

1) are chocolates like kitkat, sneakers, mars, twix halal?

2) is using soya sauce for cooking halal? Or using cooking wine or red wine vinegar halal?

3) is gelatin halal? Because i read somewhere that it is haram and so gummy bears and other sweets that contain them are haram?

4) can we eat out at KFC or macdonalds or any other resturants? I heard that we are not allowed.

Thank you so much
Nura

Dear Nura,

May peace be with you.

May I kindly suggest that rather than seeking a 'yes', 'no' or 'grey area' response for different items of food, that you tackle this matter from a holistic Quran's perspective with a view to understand what types of food and drinks are permissible and what are not. This I feel would be better to equip you to make discerning judgments for yourself when encountering a particular food item.

Therefore in light of the above, I would respectfully like to share the following articles with you which I hope you will find helpful, God willing.
