Taraweeh in Ramadan

Salamun Alaikum,

I would like to know about the taraweeh prayers which are offered during ramadan. Do our Prophet Muhammed (SAW) use to offer taraweeh prayers.

I would like to hear your views about this...

As per my knowledge the prophet used to pray "Tahajud" in the night always. Observing this Muslims used to pray these Tajjahud in Ramazan after Isha collectively. Omer Bin Khattab made it as Taraweeh prayers during his Khilafate. Taraweeh is not prescribed in Quran
