When We Die - What Happens Next?

Someone asked me the following question.   Appreciate giving me some comments from you at your convenience. 

When we die do we go right into the next dimension of existence or do we have soulsleep?

Why does it have to be one or the other? A quiescent transitory state of sleep can still be another dimension, a dimension where the concept of time is lost (17:52, 20:14, 23:113-114, 79:46; 23:100) up until a second calling (39:68, 79:6-7).
