General Discussions / Are angels a class or status of elevated messengers and servants of Allah?

Salaam
Allah says in the Qur'an that he can send Angels in the form of a man.
Iblees was a jinn, who when Allah asked the Angels to prostrate to Adam, iblees a jinn then refused.
Is it fair to say Angels are Allah's elite class of servants that can be of human, jinn or other forms?
I vaguely recall reading a verse which could have mentioned humans becoming angels but the Ayat was ambiguous and I didn't want to assume anything and attribute a lie to Allah via the Qur'an through false interpretation.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Peace and blessings of Allah
