Can Muslims Celebrate Halloween?

I have a quick question please : Can believers celebrate Halloween? Should I allow my children to participate with their friends to this celebration ?

I personally wouldn't deem it appropriate because of what it represents in terms of glorifying death and gore. Also historically it has been traced back to an ancient pagan festival called Samhain where bonfires were lit in order to ward of ghosts and evil spirits.
