What qualities does one need to display and what laws and commands does one need to follow to show his submission to God Almighty?

General Discussions / Predestined Rizq/earnings

I have heard from various sources that no matter what one does, his rizq has already been preordained.
The Quran however, says that your reward is proportional to your strife and effort in this and the hereafter.
Does the Quran say anything about a preordained sum of rizq?

General Discussions / Are polytheists the same as disbelievers?
« on: April 12, 2018, 02:24:28 AM »
Salaam
So I read Br Joseph's article about other religions/creeds and although it does make sense about souls being judged based on their level of understanding  state of heart, faculties etc etc the fact still remains that polytheists are still attributing God qualities to false deities.
The Quran does say that everyone has been given their own way and that those with no Knowledge are not the same as outright rejectors and I can't help but imagine what will become of these polytheists with no knowledge.
Sometimes I do wonder if these souls are actually a test for believers only and that they are actually not being tested at all because come judgement day they may go back to a state which was before this life
I am a "revert/convert" and would like to hear views on this as it does concern about the end of my non believer family members.

Is it lawful to invest long term in precious metals , precious stones?  Verse 9:34 rebukes hoarding gold and silver.
What might be considered hoarding and is hoarding the proper interpretation of it?

So one of the more scholarly persons in our family was advising a young man who wanted to marry a particular girl that Allah the Almighty might put obstacles in his path whilst he is pursing this marriage quest.

Then he farther advised that the young man should view these obstacles as a sign from Allah the Almighty, and back off or stop pursuing .
Does the Quran have any support for this ?
I felt this reaction was a tad harsh and if one were to read prophet Moses story , it was riddle with obstacles that he overcame with Allah the Almighty help and guidance.

1) there is an idea amongst traditionalists that mankind is Allah's best creation. Does Allah the Almighty allude to this anywhere in the Quran and is it wise to put limitations on our creator, for all we know he could have created far more systems like ours and is constantly creating new and wonderful things?

2) I recall reading a verse in the Quran where God ALMIGHTY  says that he recreates this over and over. Is he talking about mankind here? So after the first phase of judgement day will the whole process be repeated likewise could the first phase of judgement already have concluded and we are perhaps part way through Allah the Almighty plan of recreating this process over and over ?

General Discussions / Valid/Invalid Salah
« on: February 11, 2018, 11:49:33 PM »

Is there such a concept in the Quran?
Traditional schools have an array of conditions regarding whether one's salaah is valid or not.
As an example, if your back shows a little as your top rides up in prostration.
As I know it salaah is an obligation we owe ourselves not Allah the Almighty.
Does the Quran have an answer or does it stay silent on this matter?

General Discussions / Food cooked at non Muslim restaurants
« on: January 06, 2018, 04:54:54 PM »
Salaam
So, I have been to a few Hindu restaurants in my time.
Recently I sauntered up to the counter to pay and behind the cashier my eye caught sight of 5 maybe six framed images of ganesh and others all garlanded by pretty flower wreaths.
I felt extremely uncomfortable and the verse about not dedicating the food you slaughter to other than Allah came to mind. There would have been no slaughtering in a veg Hindu restaurant (well apart from the dessert on my plate :)
Is food prepared by polytheists haraam?

Kind regards

Corpus Quran interprets I-nasu as mankind, others interpretations are people, men, humanity. The verse farther says he is a prophet to ALL and he (the prophet)  should be followed.
I am struggling to put this verse into context.
Are a group of followers at the time being asked to follow the prophet or is all of humanity being asked to follow the prophet?

General Discussions / Daawah and 16:125
« on: January 01, 2018, 05:27:23 PM »
Salaam all
16:125 is commonly the primary driver for daawah.
What is the context of this verse? Is it directed to the prophet, the believers or both? Are all believers directed by Allah the Almighty to go out into the world and preach Islam?
How does a believer fulfil or satisfy this directive whilst being cautious of not misguiding others? Are we to strive in the cause of daawah?
I recall a verse (6:110) where Allah the Almighty is asking the prophet to turn away from the polytheists because their hearts are covered. How should one know when to turn away and not invite/daawah? Is daawah obligatory?

General Discussions / Prophets who are guaranteed janna
« on: January 01, 2018, 12:34:26 AM »
Salaam all
These is a verse where prophet muhammad says "I do knot know what will happen to Me"

Then in 068:003 Allah the Almighty says prophet muhammad will have a never ending reward.

I am not sure how to understand these two verses.
I do believe prophets/messengers were the best examples to live by as long as ones primary acceptance of God the Almighty's  guidance.

There can be times when prophet and messengers are trivialised, so being human doesn't always mean they were "just like us",  they did suffer immensely and we are are told this in the Quran itself.  It would be if God willed it and would not be a surprise if all prophets and messengers were in heaven on judgement day.

Could someone put in context the two verses Insha Allah.

Peace and regards

General Discussions / What is the sign witnessed by prophet Muhammad?
« on: December 25, 2017, 06:18:28 PM »
Salaam all
In Verse 53:10-18 Allah the Almighty narrates the witnessing of a great sign which I have understood to be the second descent of Gabriel by a lote tree within/from the heavens/skies.
My question is did prophet muhammad witness this within the realms of this life or not?
A traditional view depicts this narration to be part of a journey to Janna and a meeting with Allah the Almighty.
Is the narration not simply a "sign" as narrated by God Almighty? Must it be part of a bigger story that requires a wider scholarship?

Peace and regards

General Discussions / Wastage of good deeds
« on: December 25, 2017, 07:57:27 AM »
Salaam
I always believed, by way of understanding verses in the Quran that regardless of one's deen, guidance or state of heart that a soul would always be recompensed for its good and bad deeds. So, either suffer the pains of its bad deeds or gain the rewards of its good deeds.
Then I came across 6:88 where Allah the Almighty says those that associate others with God, their good deeds would have been wasted. This changes some fundamentals on a massive level and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this. Throughout the quran Allah the Almighty does say he loves the doer of Good deeds and i was wondering if this is directed only to believers or whether I have read 6:88 Completely out of context.

Peace and kind regards
