Fate of Jews & Christians in hereafter(Quran 3:85,2:62 & 5:69) & 2:111,112 &5:51

Brother Joseph Islam,
The Christians and Jews of the world today(who don follow islam), are they loosers in hereafter acc to 3:85.... If so den why does Allah say they shall get reward in (2:62 & 5:69)...?

If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good).

ومن يبتغ غير الإسلام دينا فلن يقبل منه وهو في الآخرة من الخاسرين

[Quran 3:85]

Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

إن الذين آمنوا والذين هادوا والنصارى والصابئين من آمن بالله واليوم الآخر وعمل صالحا فلهم أجرهم عند ربهم ولا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون

[Quran 2:62]

Also would like to know your views on
O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.

۞ يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا اليهود والنصارى أولياء ۘ بعضهم أولياء بعض ۚ ومن يتولهم منكم فإنه منهم ۗ إن الله لا يهدي القوم الظالمين

[Quran 5:51]

And they say: "None shall enter Paradise unless he be a Jew or a Christian." Those are their (vain) desires. Say: "Produce your proof if ye are truthful."

وقالوا لن يدخل الجنة إلا من كان هودا أو نصارى ۗ تلك أمانيهم ۗ قل هاتوا برهانكم إن كنتم صادقين

[Quran 2:111]

Nay,-whoever submits His whole self to Allah and is a doer of good,- He will get his reward with his Lord; on such shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

بلى من أسلم وجهه لله وهو محسن فله أجره عند ربه ولا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون

[Quran 2:112]

The Jews say: "The Christians have naught (to stand) upon; and the Christians say: "The Jews have naught (To stand) upon." Yet they (Profess to) study the (same) Book. Like unto their word is what those say who know not; but Allah will judge between them in their quarrel on the Day of Judgment.

وقالت اليهود ليست النصارى على شيء وقالت النصارى ليست اليهود على شيء وهم يتلون الكتاب ۗ كذلك قال الذين لا يعلمون مثل قولهم ۚ فالله يحكم بينهم يوم القيامة فيما كانوا فيه يختلفون

[Quran 2:113]

Please see the following article which discusses the People in the Book and more importantly, distinguishes between believing Jews and Christians and those that transgress(ed) boundaries despite the message being made clear to them of their transgressions.

In short, verse 3:85 is referencing all false religions regardless of name. Following the Torah or Injeel doesn't mean you are following a 'false' religion.

Please remember that the same fundamental 'religion' was inspired in all the prophets.

"The same religion (Arabic: Deen) has He established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah and that which We have sent by inspiration to thee and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: Namely, that you should remain steadfast in religion, and make no divisions in it: to those who worship other things than God, hard is the (way) to which you call them. God chooses to Himself those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him)"

It is only when one transgresses the boundaries of what was revealed to them, do they follow a false religion. For example, contrary to popular belief amongst Muslims, not all Christians believe in the Trinity or Jesus as being God. Conversely, just because someone calls themselves 'Muslim', doesn't mean that they are following the correct religion according to the Quran either. This is covered in more detail in the following Q&A. This verse covers all false beliefs and practices in the name of religion regardless of title.
