power of culture

Peace to all,

"Every year (approx) 1000 women are killed in Pakistan in the name of honor. Most cases are reported in the country's most prosperous, populous and developed region i.e. the Punjab province which partly rules out the argument that this is primarily an education issue prevalent in under-developed regions. Women have been killed outside court rooms and Darulamaans in broad daylight in urban capitals like Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Multan.
The same Muslims who boast about mistreatment of women in the so called Jahiliyya and how Islam emancipated women, do not take a moment before killing their own flesh and blood. All it takes for a father to shoot his daughter is for her to choose a man of her choice; a brother to beat his sister to death for marrying in court a man she loved; a husband to kill his wife over an accusation of being unfaithful.
Why don't we simply bury newborn girls alive and keep it simple? Why make this modern state which has an atomic bomb and motorways and shopping malls look like a stone-age society which kills and dumps in broad daylight? Why not have specialized dumping areas where we silently dump all newborn girls because they appear to be the cause of all evil in this land of the pure. Our Islamic Studies text books taught us Arabs used to do this before the advent of Islam - so this policy will align with our Arabisation as well." - Ale Natiq

This happened as a result of a patriarcic System in which a corrupted Picture of the Religion makes the women inferior.

Sister Hope Thanks for bringing this burning point in this Forum. The main point is that when a girl reaches a point of her being adult she has got right to choose her life partner though in Pakistan society the parents have the final say. Unless the partner she chooses is a non Muslim there is reason why the parents don't agree? There is no sub caste like Hindus in India therefore every Muslims is same as others except the status of parents. Parents need not see the status for their girls marriage if she liked one. Honor killing is not only the crime in this world but also punishable in hereafter. Therefore the parents should foresee & avoid double punishment.
May entire creation be filled with Peace & Joy & Love & Light

Greetings HOPE.

Any society which exercises freedom of the individual and freedom of economy prospers. Those who place restrictions on such freedom  do not prosper. It might be noted that religious, political and economic freedoms go together and benefit most of the citizens in a society.

The present "Islamic States", the Mullahs and the "Word of God."

All of us who claim to be " Muslim" are individually answerable to God on the Day of Judgement for our individual acts and our adherence to God's commandments (in the Quran). Our individual responsibility in a society is to maintain (and strife to keep) the above freedoms using all possible means.

It is obvious from the Qoran, that there is no nation on earth now which calls itself Islamic, that in fact is Islamic.

When the Mullahs (religious leaders) and scholars of these states proclaim "Word of (God) Allah", they refer to writings of humans put in book form 200+ years after the revelation of the Qoran. The Qoran condemns such writings. The scholars are actually referring to "Word of scholars" rather than the Word of God. The failure of these states to follow the word of God, has lead to loss of all aspects of freedom, including women s rights, called for in the Qoran in all these states.

This is what the Qoran , the Word of God, says about those who follow the words of these scholars.

[Qoran 9:31] They have set up their religious leaders and scholars as lords,* instead of God. .... Be He glorified, high above having any partners.

An obvious conclusion cannot escape us -  Some non-Islamic countries practise God's laws as laid out in the Qoran, more  than any of the so called "islamic" states in the world.

What a shame!!!
We have abandoned the Qoran????

GOD bless you.
Peace.
